I had the opportunity of a lifetime today to go aboard the CV-63 USS Kittyhawk and let me say what an amazing piece of machinery!
We were escorted by a naval aviator through the hanger deck and then up three flights of stairs to the flight deck, with very thorough commentary provided by the Lt.
It was amazing to see the aircraft and watch on as the men and women of the US Navy went about their daily business. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the bridge or the Air Traffic Control room, but we saw that aboard the CVN-76 USS Ronald Reagan when she was in Brisbane early in the year. It would have been nice to contrast the differences; but me no complain!
Don't ever pass up the opportunity if you have the chance to go aboard a warship in service.
The kittyhawk is enroute back to the US to be mothballed, her final deployment.
