This is my first post in this forum, so I hope I have found a subject worthy enough.

We made a short trip to our summer cottage this last week and managed an AP mission as well to the old remains of the castle Brahe Hus (Brahe House) along the main highway in Sweden.

'Brahe Hus' was built by the Lord Chancellor Per Brahe the Younger in the mid-17th century. It was originally intended as a country retreat but in 1645 there was a change of plan. Instead, the castle now was to be a dower house for Per Brahe the youngers wife, Kristina Katarina Stenbock. She died however, a few years later and the castle came to be used as a guest accomodatyion instead. After being ravaged by a fire in 1708, it fell into decay.

The ruins are just a few footsteps from the E4 highway and really on a cliff with trees around everywhere, so I had to fly almost straight over and really carefully land in the bush nearby (see the video posted here;)

Even so, the weather was very nice and some pictures turned out fine.

Wonderful images, Bjorn. Much more interesting than the typical "tourist shots".

Yes, handlaunch and land in a bush are very good ways to handle these tight flying spots.

What a wonderful presentation Bjorn, the architecture looks almost oriental in its structure. So different from our Norman castles over here in the UK!
Well done also for getting these results in such a tight landing area.

Gray.

Thanks Bill and Gray!

It's great to have a small enough airframe to land almost anywhere :)

Castles always make nice AP subjects I think so I look forward to some Norman castles next...

Bjorn,

Great subject and great pictures. Nice job getting in and out of their like Gray said. Thats a very nice looking castle. You guys over their have subjects older than most anything in the US so its great to see them. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Dan and Tom!

It's great when you find a location like that...

We have a long list on the fridge so I am guessing there would be more when he weather permits (worst summer ever this year!).

Thanks quailbird!
It helps to have a small 40", 28 oz AP plane in those places :)
Nobody seemed to mind me flying there but I think they would if I had used my 55", 3 lb NSP Viking...
