Can anyone divulge what one would need to design a plane for this program from scratch?

It would be nice to know what it takes to design the look and the flight characteristics.

Or is the only option to start from an existing model?

There's no way to create different aircraft and import them into RF Deluxe. You need to upgrade to G3.5 and have knowledge of and access to or a friend who can build three d models in a high end three d modeling program like 3ds max.
