I've been flying my experience pro x-tail for a couple of months. I like it a lot. AUW is around 74 oz which puts it in the 10+ oz/ft2 ballpark.

I am looking for a second plane. When the lift is strong, this plane if a lot of fun to fly. When it's soft it's tough.

I realize that dropping $1500 won't make me a better pilot. I am going to by a second TD/F3J airframe. I'm looking at the Supra from Kennedy Composites in the fiberglass layup.

From what I've read, there aren't a lot of drawbacks to the KC Supra. However, I'm open to suggestions.

Remember these characteristics when you state your case:
- I want a MOLDED airframe (I've got a BOT)
- I'm looking for a TD/F3J ship
- Lower wing loading for those days when the thermal updraft velocity is low
- Launch height isn't an issue; strong wind days I'll pull out the Ex Pro

Looking forward to your input-

Game on!

I think there are several threads already out there answering some of your questions, exstensively, about which TD/F3J plane to buy/fly/etc.

If you like the X-pro, why not look at the shadow... it fits your requirements and comes from the same manufacturers as the x-pro.

I was thinking along the same lines.

Ideally, I'd like to hear from someone who has flown both.

Thanks

I have both Xperience and Shadow.
Shadow is may be best floater. Last production flying weight is under 2 kg.
It's a good idea to have Xperience for thermic and windy weather and Shadow for low conditions.

I think even the full carbon Shadow V-tail builds to less than 68 oz. This would certainly answer your needs.

Bryan,

Did you make a choice? Shadow.....Supra?

Bryan,

The Shadow fits your needs perfectly. I also have an Xpro and have briefly flown a Shadow. The Shadow is cheaper than a Supra, better looking, and since you have an Xpro, you know it wll have the same excellent quality.

I bought a Supra last year. I love it. And, I think it's better looking than the Shadow. JMO.

AUW is 60 oz. It floats very nicely and with ballast can cover a lot of ground. When the wind picks up I use the XPro or the Crossfire. And if I had to choose between the two for wind, Crossfire hands down.

Edit to say I've never seen a Shadow or flown one. Maybe need to get one of those too.
