Today after a couple of short flights trying to get my HH gyro dialed in better I had a disaster.
I had unplugged the battery to get my gyro to reinitialize. when I plugged it back up, I didn't hear the familiar beeping tones of the ESC arming. I don't know why I didn't stop right there but unfortunately I didn't. When I applied throttle the motor went up in a puff of smoke. I unplugged the battery just as quickly as I could but when I got in the house I found that my ESC apparently took damage too. The shrinkwrap is melted in places. The ESC has been completely disconnected from everything but if I plug a battery into it, the battery starts to get warm. Interestingly enough, if I hook the ESC up to my castle link, I get a good connection and can read and write settings to the ESC.
Where do I go from here? Is it worth sending it in for repair? My hobby budget is tight and I sure hate the thought of having to replace it.
Thanks for your time,
Michael
