I'm setting here thinking of pizza as I missed lunch today. Aside from a grumbling stomach, I have been wondering what would be a better recipe for the crust then my wife uses now. I'll admit, hers is good, but too thick for me most of the time. I'm a thin crusted kinda guy (no puns please) and so I thought I ask right here on our all new forum.
I did find this recipe (http://recipes.robbiehaf.com/T/272.htm) which sounds good so I think I'll give it a try -- Maybe even tonight.
Anyone got some good PIZZA recipes you can share?

There was a member here that was so into pizza he built his own pizza oven in his back yard. He even documented the build to show how it was done. I gave a passing thought about building one myself.

Just had pizza today for lunch - frozen boxed one. :o
My wife makes pizza crust with the frozen bread dough from the supermarket. Takes like homemade.

My wife's come with a kit she buys. She buys the kit only for the dough and then uses some other brand of sauce and pepperoni. The sauce and pepperoni are fine, but I would like a better dough.
I'm not a rye fan, so I appreciate the idea, but I don't think I would like it anymore in a pizza then in bread.
Wasn't enough time to build an oven, so we got Poppa Murphy's and cooked it on our regular over tonight. It's OK, but not the best I've had, or even close to.
Told the wife we should try the recipe I found, and now I get to make pizza next weekend for the fam...
It will still be fun.

No recipes, but I've had a few notable pizza incidents lately.
Last month: wife brought home a take-n-bake. We were out of groceries and had no desire to go shopping that night, so we were looking forward to a nice chicken/pineapple barbecue pie. While cutting however, she got it too close to the edge of the counter top, and down it went. Half landed cheese down. :( Can't really use the 5 second rule here.
Last week: similar situation, she called ahead to Pizza Hut and picked it up on the way home from work for our Friday treat. Got home and we discovered it had onions on it. I don't mind onions most places, but with tomato sauce & pepperoni, they make the heartburn intolerable. We ended up eating it with forks, carefully picking out the largest chunks.
Not surprisingly, she's absolved herself of all pizza-related preparations from this point on. :)

I like "green pizza" using pesto instead of marinara. Topped with broccoli, mushrooms, onions, and grilled chicken breast pieces and mozzerella! Great alternative for those who don't care for tomatos!

I would have thought "green pizza" as having only organically grown ingredients, cooked in a solar oven, boxed in recycled cardboard and delivered in an electric car. :p
Oh crap! I think I just made a political statement!
Your version sounds much more tasty.

I have never met a pizza I didn't like. Some are better than others but, ultimately they are all good! MMMMMMMMMMM Now it's time to re-heat that Pizza Hut pizza in the fridge for lunch.

I picked up a DVD on making "Pizzaria Style" pizza and it was the best $40 I've ever spent. :)
The trick is to use high-gluten flour, not all-purpose or bread flour. You won't find it in the supermaket. :( I got mine online from "The Baker's catalog" (King Arthur Flour). You want the "Sir Lancelot" high-gluten flour. They sell it in 3 lb bags. I went through it pretty quickly. It made an awesome thin crust pizza.
A friend at work was so impressed with the pizza we went in on buying a 50lb bag of HG flour from Honeyville ($45 shipped).
The word of warning...you will never want to eat a frozen pizza again.

For sure, all recipes welcome!
I never new there was a special flour for pizza. I'm going to have to finds somewhere to get some too.
My all time favorite pizza out came from a little shop in Winter Park, Florida. Place was nothing to look at at all, but they just made a great pizza for my taste buds. Sir Pizza, any one heard of 'em?
Second favorite (some times first), was Shakey's Pizza. Same town, but I've had it in Miami, and many other towns in Florida and even in Fargo ND. We actually renovated the one in Fargo back in '78.
Sorry to say, I think both are franchises are kaput now, but I sure can taste them pizza's in my mind right now... EEEMM GOOOD!

Not the greatest but quck and good. I have used it 3 times and am getting better with it (working it a little seems to help).

The only bad pizza I ever had was in Italy. Made the mistake of ordering the 'Roma' pizza, it came out covered in little fish heads and black stuff. I am not one to get grossed out, I have never refused anything put before (and will order 'interesting' stuff just to gross other people out at the table and try something new when in foreign countries), but this stuff was vile.
The best pizza I ever had was in Croatia. They had a barbque chicken pizza that was incredible.
Now I'm hungry and need to go to bed. :(

Sardines maybe?
My dad's favorite was any pizza covered in anchovies. Personally, ever since I was poisoned in college from bad shrimp, I have not liked (nor do I eat) anything remotely like crustaceans, and anything fish I make very sure of it's freshness before eating. About the only way I can appreciate it is if just caught, cleaned and cooked (by someone I can trust). When it comes to fishy stuff, call me paranoid I guess :o.

I guess they were sardine heads, but I have had them before on their own and with other stuff and didn't mind the taste. This was just bad. And then we got onto a ferry for an 8-hour ride across the Adriatic!

Got the King Arthur flour last week so I gave it shot tonight. The wife and I agree it was the best pizza we’d ever had. The crust was outstanding.
Next time I'd go with a little less cheese and more sauce.

I'm bringing this thread back to life. I love making pizza. I make my own dough, but just use plain flour. I guess I should try the high Gluten stuff. Thanks for that post Ken. Yep I haven't eaten pizza in a pizza house for years. Nothing like home made. One of my creations below. Btw, the best pizza stone I've had is one from Wal-Mart ,..... $10 and hasn't cracked yet, close to a year old. I've been thinking of building a wood fired pizza oven in my yard. It's a huge project that will cut into my model building schedule,.... hmmmm ,... tough choice.
Cooking is my "other hobby".
