This has to be one of the easiest 50cc conversions out there. Here is a Link to the model specs: http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HAN2900

The converted model comes in at 16.5 LBS AUW. and looks GREAT on the ground and in the air. This plane is designed by Peter Goldsmith, and has some excellent flying attributes; EASY LANDING, Excellent Pattern and 3D flying.

I assembled the model, following the included instructions and used recommended JR Radio equipment. The model went together really quick using the supplied hardware. About 8 hours after starting I was mounting the motor and battery tray. In less than 10 Hours I was setting the control throws as indicated in the instructions, ready to fly!

What makes this model so easy to convert is the fact that the Firewall and fuel tank mount are in just the right locations for correct C/G with batt. and motor installed. Please see the following pics of the install.

Very interesting. I'm kind of looking for a 50cc to convert. Thanks!

Sean - How does the CAP fly, compared to say some of the 50cc Yaks, or Extra's, or whatever? I've heard that some CAP's don't fly real great. SOme folks call them "Snap 232" or whatever? :)

I picked up this ---http://www.greatplanes.com/performance/airplanes/gpma1410.html
awhile back to convert but just haven't gotten to it.
It also looks very easy to convert & similar to your H9 size & weight.

I've seen one of these at our field with a slimer in it. It is very light and appears to fly very well with no bad habits.

KatManDEW,

The plane flies fine as configured, great for tumbles, lomchevoks, etc. Suprisingly it does a real nice turn around pattern, with great tracking at normal gas speed ranges. This model will however, SNAP at low speed and high elevator deflections.

One other interesting thing is that at a neutral C/G the model will "float" if level flight is maintained at surprising low speeds. I find this thing about the easist model to land in this size category.

Thanks for the flight characteristics Sean. I went with the 85 inch Hyperion Yak. I'm going to use a Hacker A60-18L.

I watched a fellow club member maiden a 28% Precision Aerobatics Edge 540 with a Hacker A60-18M today. He alrerady had the 18M for another plane, so he tried it in the Edge and it flew amazingly well on 10s TP Extreme 6600's.

you will have fun with the Hyperion Yak!. We flew one at SEFF this year with the 18L on 12S. There are some good pics of the model in Quiet flyer mag. Gary Wright should have some pics of the install.

How much did the precision aerobatics 540 weigh all up?

The PA 540 weighed 16 pounds. I was surprised at how well the A60-18M pulled it on 10 cells.

Is this the same PA 540T that is advertised as 13.2 LBS on 50cc Gas; http://www.precisionaerobatics.com/product_item.aspx?prodID=100

Yep, that's the same one Sean. It's the earlier version and color scheme. I don't know how accurate the 16 pounds is that I reported, but I know it wasn't anywhere close to 13.2 pounds with a DA50 on it.
