So instead of buying Axel pilots for my sailplane, I ordered a sailplane for my Axel pilots! In reality, I had ordered an ASH-25 about 2 years ago, after many delays and spending the money I set aside for the ASH I bought another model, I kinda dropped the idea of purchasing the ASH-25, but meanwhile my Axel order went through and I had them sitting patiently waiting for a ride. I recently found out that the ASH was currently in stock and ready to ship (and I could put it on my credit card!), so, what the heck, the model is on its way! I just couldn't allow those poor pilots to sit in that cold dark box any longer! Sick I tell ya!

Dennis, need I remind you there's a very fine line between "hobby" and mental illness. You may have just stepped over that very fine line. Of course you can redeem yourself simply by having the 25 shipped to me! My guess is you were so inspired watching your old 25 fly at JR you decided to order a new one.

OK, spill them beans. As George Castanza might say: details...details! Which 25, size, etc.

Regards,

Steve

Hello S 2000.

Yes aeromodelling is a mental sickness - and it is incurable !!!!

And as if the ASH-25 isn't enough, I have my eyes on a 1/3 ASK-13 kit, not that it knocks me out, but I came across a fantastic color scheme that would make it a great looking model, and I also have 2 1/3 Axels ready to drop on it.
Steve, the ASH-25 is from Icare, it is the 6.9 meter version, the 4 piece wing was the key, it is 1/3.75, a bit larger than the Tom's model.

Make sure just before you press the submit button on any RC related https page, you should always say the magic chant 'This is not a sickness, it is for the benefit of fellow modelers'
=-D it always works for me.

Dennis, I checked out the Icare '25. What a beauty with those double hinged canopies and 4-piece wing. I feel like I'm coming down with a severe case of sailplane-itis. The only cure: complete destructions of all credit cards, PayPal accounts, etc.

Wonder if this ASH is from HF or someone else? And what about the Lunak that was on your list...did it get bumped down a few notches?!

Heading for the emergency room,

Steve

Hey... it's way cheaper than any "shrink"... :D

Cheers from a recovering worker (heh-heh, now retired). :p

Steve, in another case of sailplane-itis, I cannot pay 3k for a Lunak when I can get the Reichard for around $650, so I may end of getting a Reichard, if so, I swear that is the last of it, if for no other reason than I truly have no more space for the toys.

Hmmmm...seems to me I remember a certain someone mentioning that he figured out another venue to store more sailplanes. Guess it was a figment of my imagination!

By the way that ASH is really decked out...has a super detailed cockpit. Sounds like a Let model but it's not listed on their site.

Dennis,
Some would say this is definitely a sickness but I call it in incurable obsession to the extreme. :D And I don't wanna be cured!

I said "That would be the last one" so many times I can't even remember. My wife does if you ask her...
Then I went out and bought the Windex ....motor ..... controller..... servos.... batteries....etc, etc, etc...

I too have run out of wall space, nooks and crannies to store anything.
Here is what I did to store the fuses up and out of the way. I have also run out of wall space for storage/ display.

The wings/ stabs are in the Pantry or should I call it the wing storage unit?
The DUO wings are too long for the pantry to stand up so I made a rack over the patio door to hold them.

Now the wife wants a bigger house!

If this is what being sick is, I don't want to be well! :D

For me the first sign of illness many, many years ago was buying a Super 8 movie camera to record the ephemeral lives of my airplanes.

Now the tossup is between getting new airplanes or a better HD camcorder. Which to choose? It sounds easy, but then I get to relive one of my old flights on the computer screen and the problem starts anew.

Also in the camera's favor is the fact that I can bring home videos of other peoples airplanes and enjoy them as well.

These hobbies within hobbies make everything so confusing.

I tell you i wish more people had this sickness. You hit the nail on the head.I think the world would be better of, if people had Hobbies!!! Case in point i had to go Customs to pick up my Glider. I told the Agent oh my wife is not going to like this. And he said,i wish this is all we had to worry about.People spend lots of money on worse things!!!
