I have a Magnum XL-28A engine with a carburetor problem. The engine does not want to shut down but eventually does. I thought that it was a leaky bearing, but this is not my problem. I recently installed a T in the fuel line to keep from having to disconnect the line to fuel it up. The problem is that I saw fuel coming out of the idle stop screw hole when I was adding fuel to the tank. I had removed it because I had heard that you could. I replaced the screw and then it started to come around the barrel with it fully closed. The other problem is when I try to remove fuel from the tank, air is sucked into the fuel line though the carb even when it is fully closed. Is this normal, or is my carb garbage? Is something put together wrong? Ideas?

try using a 3rd line for fueling. and keep the carb trim off while fueling....

I think that I figured out my problem. I think that the open idle screw hole was allowing air in at idle and caused me to set the low speed needle so rich that it did not shut off the spraybar at idle. I checked to see if fuel would flow when the carb was shut and it would. I finally took the idle stop screw and cut it in half. I then put the short screw back in the hole to seal it. I will now retune my low end needle and see how this works. I will reply later to see if this helped.
