How to pack a Sportube

Just purchased a Sportube and am looking for suggestions on how to pack unlimited size planes. I have had a recommendation to install a pvc pipe so the airline gorillas won't collapse the Sportube on the fuse. I also read where someone installs a broom handle for the same purpose. Any other suggestions?

Also, a bolt installed in one hole past where you are going to secure the lock on the attachment ridge can do the same. then lots os strategic bubble wrap and end padding. It is kind of like baking, everytime is a bit different and dependent on the model.

Definitely use some sort of cross member in the center so they can't collapse it from the sides. I saw someone that made a nice interior from 1/4" ply going lengthwise that suspended the wings on one side and fuses on the other with a crosswise bulkhead in the center.
