My wife got this great pic of me flying a 1-1 scale Japanese P-3.
Great detail huh?

Ok, you got me! It's real. One was taking off and since I happened to have my controller handy, I thought it would be a funny pic.

Thanks Kyle,
She does make a statment. When is the next weekend fly-in ?
Scott,
Thanks for that pic. I logged over 1500 hours aircrew time in P3 Orions that looked just like the model while attached to VP-19 during the 70's.

I'm an ex-P3 crew too. Does anyone do a (flying) kit of a P3-C?

skyboyken,
I am not aware of any flying P3 kit. The picture in post #2 is a scratch built. It was built by Ed Putnam 3 or 4 years ago. She has a 49" wingspan and is powered by 4 speed 300's direct drive and 3s 3300mah lipos.
My full scale time was in P-3b's and b-retrofits. Not sure what version the P3 in Scott's pic is but the mad boom is gone.

I'm an avionics tech on the CP140 Aurora (Canadian P3) and my father was(is!) aircrew. Nothing like fixing what he breaks... It's a family business :-p
A P3/Aurora kit would be great. Buddies and I have, numerous time, contemplated asking the squadron for $$$ and scratchbuilding one :-)

Man, we just had a semi-royal rumble betix a P-3 guy and a C-130 guy.. Seems the C-130's tend to think the P-3 has it's engines upside down and vice versa.. :)
I like the P-3 better, myself..

It is not so much that the 130 has it's engines upside down but more that it has it's wing mounted on the wrong side of the fuselage ;)
