A storm just ripped through XFC taking tents, speakers, chairs, fences and anything else that was concreted down.

I think the storm blew out the ampliflier again. We will still shoot video of the event and upload them throughout the week.

I hope there were no planes in the air at the moment it all began!!!

The lack of updates since the storm both here and on Flying Giants is disconcerting. I hope that this didn't end the event.

Results have just been posted on FG. Should be here soon too. Looks like they were able to finish after all.

Wowsers. Reminds me of IRCHA two years ago when I was trying to hold down my EZ UP and was praying I wouldn't get blown away.

I saw a radar about the time that Jim is talking about, there were some pop up cells that really got going, and they can get going fast there when instability is available.

Been at the Nats when it happens and I have seen more carnage than this.

It was really intense. There was enough time to grab a laptop or camera but that was about it. I'm from tornado country and when the rain started blowing in horizontal from different directions I got concerned. I can't believe it turned over a whole row of porta-potties (and boy did that stink!).
After the storm blew over the officials checked the radar and we were able to resume the competition. We really missed our tent, sitting in an open field with no shade was not fun and it's hard to read the computer. The good news was that everyone was alright and the only fatalities were the tents and speakers.

Naw, this one as a minor one....compared to IRCHA two years ago...welcome to IN!

We were up and running 20 minutes later.

I rode it out in my rental car and it was swaying from side to side in the wind. I heard someone got a minor jolt from holding on to a metal tent pole when lightning struck close by. nothing serious, but it made him jump! and Jim is not kidding, the rain was going sideways!
