I saw the Parkzone Supercub wing at the local hobby shop and after seeing this wing in action with my MagpieAP, I decided to try a twin boom electric. After working on it a little at a time, I finally finished it last night and test flew it today. This is a prototype and is unpainted.
The motor is an Eflite 400 outrunner, Eflite 20 amp ESC, three Eflite S75 miniservos (two for ailerons, one for elevator, no rudders) Prop is an APC 10X5. Battery is Eflite 3s 1800mah, Ill probably go with the perfect TP 1320 3s pack when I install more gear.
Maiden flight went very well, since there in no landing gear, a hand launch is done without power. I throw it, it glides a little, then power is applied. The skids on the bottom of the fuse slide well on grass. Im using a standard size 72 mhz receiver because this will be a camera platform and I want to use some recently liberated 2.4 ghz video gear.

Sweet Mike. Do you have a task lined up for it?

Thanks Dan. Not yet, Im considering trying some FPV again, havent done that in a while. If I need more gear in there, Ill probably upgrade the motor to the Park 450, only .5 more oz in weight, gobs more power, I wont have to change ESCs, I use one on my MagpieAP, I love it!

I don't think I ever posted pictures of this. It's a non flying Mock up Simplot ordered for advertising at their Agriculture shows. They wanted a camera in the nose with the ability to turn the plane on its mast via transmitter.

Anyhow, I built a nose turret around the KX 131 camera. I always thought if I wanted a strict FPV plane that I would do something like this. Not sure how it would incorporate into your planes nose shape though.

How are you coping with keeping the motor cool when it is mounted in the rear? I tried this once and the motor would get dangerously hot as there was little or no air moving over it to take away heat.

The motor stays pretty cool, Im using the upward end on the required ESC, a 20 amp, the 400 outrunner ran good on my slowstick on a 10 amp ESC, I dunno, it never gets hot, the only time Ive ever ran into a hot situation was the ESC, if close to its range while pulling amps, heat can send it over the top, that was on another plane, the one in my avatar. Even though its a pusher too, the motor never runs that hot.
Theres a little air circulating back there, not directly over the motor.
