Apparently "Never stand ON the load applies here". I wonder if they are okay.

Loadmaster had the wrong CG on that boat or a cable broke/released...

The thread reads, that the forward strap slipped over the bow. As the boat dropped, the anchor caught the strap. You can see the anchor chain and another line "over" the boat in the second picture. As the rear strap caught the propellers, the weight of the boat carried itself down, and the rear strap removed the propellers and shafts from the hull.

One of the men aboard suffered a bruised knee, the other, probably that one arm you see wrapped around the port cabin post, suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Yes its real... and has been discussed here before... Fortunatly everyone managed to get off the tug and on to the tow before it hit the bridge ... only the captain got wet if i remember rightly..

The Bridge removal is the Windoc http://www.boatnerd.com/windoc/

The pusher roll under the bridge is the CAHABA http://koti.mbnet.fi/~soldier/index.html and http://koti.mbnet.fi/~soldier/towboat.htm

Some operators will fasten/secure the forward and rear straps to each other with a horizontal line port and starboard. I think it would be the crane operators call/ judgement if the load lift weight exceeds his crane lift capacity

Looking at those pics, I generally agree with the husband that yes, the great american boater drives their boats as well as they drive their vehicles on the freeways down here in Southern Cal. Another reason why when I go up north for a visit, I try not to drive anywhere for about a week...just to get out of the combat driver habit....

...Though, I do find it amusing when I scare the s**t out of elder sister with my aquired offensive driving habits! :D :D :D

Couldn't agree more Mrs Toes, it is funny on the east coast of Australia, the further north you go, the slower the drivers get, it applies to the way they talk too. The further south you go, the crazier and more unpredictable they are......Brisbane is the happy medium, we have an equal share of both. We seem to have a lot of boat fires down south though.....
