Life is good. Taking the bride to San Francisco for our anniversary... and while there, I get to see the Seaway Tug Cup (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=683284)! She understands... sort of...

Who else is going?

wish I could, but unable to go this year. There are a couple of members from the local club heading that way to go play. Maybe next year.
Pat, need to come out to Foss Cup sometime and vacation in the PNW. Might be able to swing in an extra something special for you if you let me know in advance.

Have fun to all that are going!

Since I am running this deal will monitor and try to answer any questions from the Contingents. I was reminded this weekend that is "The Seaway Cup" and not the tug weekend. Aero had the correct info, so will eagerly await any posts from the AWAY Team. KeithS will miss you, have been hearing all year about That Monster Tug from the NW.

Hey Capt Lee, could you repeat that last transmission? Kind of garbled on this end. Tug event? Seaway Cup? Which when?

Thx,
Pat M

PAT I was talking about the Seaway Cup that you are coming to see. But the sponser was a bit tight in the Jaw because I kept calling it the Tug Weekend, its his money so will correctly call it by its proper name.
Seaway Cup Tug Event
23 June 2007 Team Events Team Towing and Freighter Adrift
24 June 2007 Single Tug Event Tug and Barge Course
Both days will start at 0900 hrs and go till we git'er done.
Pat will you bring a tug or do I need to have one for you to use? Got a selection of 4, two Springers and two Kort Nozzle singles to choose from. due to my being the CD figure will only get to run one of them. But can charge a spare up for you if need be.

Thanks, 10-4.

No, I'm traveling light, just the camera. Always happy to give it a go in between taking a bunch of pix- but I'm out of there early Saturday afternoon, and can't be back for Sunday :( .
Thanks!

It's on the list, Keith!
I don't need too much of an excuse, I have family near Seattle.

:( fritza-fratza.....harumpf!
This is the weekend that I'll be moving to Vegas. Seems like this year will be a bust for me in the model world.
Next year? Maybe I'll come back and help clean up.

Today, at a secret location, 4 drivers with 5 tugs, 3 barges ranging from 15 to 300+ lbs and a dock, had a "tune up" day in preparation for the Seaways Cup at Golden Gate Park next weekend- We practiced all sorts of maneuvers, in various conditions etc. and feel ready (as we'll ever be) to face the competition... Because of the hush-hush nature of this tune up session, no pictures were taken... we must keep our secrets... ;) (Actually no pictures because I didn't realize I had forgotten my camera until I was halfway to the pond! D'OH!!! :o Sorry about that!)

The tune up day was a lot of fun! :)

If you are in the S.F. Bay Area, please consider coming to the event either to enter or if you'd like, just watch- :)

Again, the Seaways Cup is next Saturday and Sunday, June 23/24, starting at 9am both days, Spreckels Lake in GG Park

HEY!!!  ;)

Well, maybe... :o But, the good news is (without giving too much away to the competition...) the little ST-FTG "8 Ball" can handle big barges quite well! :D ;) Just finished putting on its new set of "armor" for the event! :)

How's it looking for Mr. and Mrs. Toes making the trip north? :)

Unless i can get some railings from a not so LHS (the LHS is out of stock) it looks like Scoot will be sans railings.. :(.. Though we still hope to be there.. to help you figure out why your Springer WONT work.. :p

Railings?!?!?!? Tell the Scoot crew to wear teathers for now!!! (we may need a 'backup' Springer :o ;) )

To all of you out there in computerland Aero did pretty well in practise yesterday, but guess I need to say that it is not so complicated a contest that someone could just jump in with both feet and win this thing. So come one, come all and we will have a gooooood time I promise. Will have my Springer available so if Aero's fails again we will have one for him to run, or anyone else with problems. We will have a selection of barges for Sunday, Saturday will be using the Emanon (240 lb.) as a target vessel in Freighter Adrift and Team Towing. This is the day that cooperation of two tugs is the Name of the Game. I can tell the visitors that a Springer can move it by itself, but two captains need to talk to each other to make it a better operation. Remember that Slow and Steady is the answer. Now if I can just remember that will not embarras myself too much.

Wish I could be there, if only to meet some of the guys from this forum. ;)

By my calculations, the events in SF should start in about four hours from now, as it's presently 8 AM here in New York, and three hours less in California. :)

Waiting for the pix to be posted later---. :D

Good luck toesup and crew! Make the Irregulars proud. :D

I was supposed to be in the desert this weekend flying r/c planes but my truck has been giving me troubles. Would have possibly been even worse driving 400 miles to Frisco, and possibly breaking down. In either case, I wish I were somewhere having fun!

Yeah Aero, looking at the pix makes me want to plan for a trip for next year, maybe bring a boat along. :)

I think that a Springer, carefully boxed, will fit in a plane's overhead---. ;)

Or....ship it ahead to someone... :D But then again, would you trust your Springer to those of UPS/DHL/FedEx...or even the dreaded USPS??

It would be Great to have you out here, Der Kap! Just don't forget yer sun block and wooly sweater. At least Sunday was a tad warmer than all day Saturday...yeah, I know, us southlanders aren't Used to the brisk weather up in SF. :D

Mrs. Toes, the weather in California won't bother me, be it hot or cold. Just
consider how the conditions vary here where I live---. :)

Our winters go down to well below zero, and right at this moment, it's 89 degrees outside. ;)

I think I'd rather carry my boat along with me and keep it close. There would be no problem shipping it through the post office, but I would NEVER send it by UPS.

UPS= Usually Pulverizes Stuff. :D

Aero, should have been doing some "Kodak engineering/research" on the Toes boats this weekend to cure his power problem. ;) :p
Mrs. Toes, you will find the sticks much easier to controll the boat than with the pistol grips ( as you can see what you are doing with them ). Keep up the good work and just make your sudjestions to Mr.Toes when he is not aware you are doing so. ( subliminal messages tied to the plans of a prodject: put part A to { buy Mrs. Toes new radio} part B and hold while gluing. :p
