I just need to pop the elevator and rudder servos in and she's ready to go. I can't wait to fly it. I'll be nervous:)

Sure does look nice..Kinda resembles a Sharon...Is it made by the same company...What air foil did you get on it....I'm always nervous when I fly..When you quit getting nervous it quits being fun.... ;o) Brian

FYI:
The Space Pro and Sharon Pro are nearly identical except for wing span and airfoil. The Space is specifically designed for FAI F3b in Euope, It is a super ship for both F3b and TD in the us where speed and smaller size is desired. The Sharon is a Euro F3j ship with a 7037 foil on the outer panels and an increased span for TD work when light conditions prevail.
Both are contracted by HKM and made in the Chzech republic under liscense from them.
Both are available in a V-tail or Cruciform tail.
The ones I import ( as exclusive U.S. distributor) all have custom color stripes on the top of the wings molded in, gap seals in place, tow hooks mounted at the factory, all control hardware, linkages, rods, clevices, and the pushrod housings are installed.
either is available in an electric version with a short or long nose for either a brushed or brushless motor.
Limited quantities,
I do have an order in place due in about six weeks, I sell these by pre paid subscription because of their limited supply.
Best,
john

Paul,
That is an absolutely beautiful plane. I can see why you chose it.
Who did you end up getting it from? Were you happy with their service?
Also, where do you plan to fly it? I might want to come down and check it out - I'm not far from you (Castro Valley).

Hi Ric,

Thanks. I'm trying out some striping on it now, it's to plain looking:) I got the SP from SOBOX in Canada. The service and communication was good. The packaging was SUPERB. A custom made plywood box, but the plane still managed to get damaged on the the rudder. It crinckled a bit, I'm not sure how this happened. I did my best to repair it and now it's all cosmetic. I sent the guy from Sobox an email about the damage, he did tell me he was going to Europe a couple days after I recieved the plane, I haven't heard from him yet. I'm not sure what to expect, it's not like I want an exchange:)

Hopefully the maiden flight will be next week and I plan to start off at Baylands, then i will fly both at Baylands and Rancho San Antonio. The surface is very rough at RSA, I prefer Baylands but the winds at Baylands flow perpendicular to the field so you have to get creative with the high start.

Overall Im happy and can't wait to get it in the air!

Do the SBSS guys still fly at the Curtis school site in Santa Clara? That's where I spent most of my Sundays when I lived in San Jose. It was a nice site, not sure how it is now.

Keep me posted ;) I love the lines of that plane!

Good Lord, I can't believe you'd fly that at RSA! There are akways so many moving obsticles there for those big wings to crash into it isn't funny. I don't know how long we'll have it, but the SBSS has a great field in Gilroy. Lot's of space(23 acres if I recall correctly), no traffic nearby(the only car you will see will be your own!), and you usually get the whole field to yourself. No joggers or looky-loos pestering you. Oh, and the best thing yet, not nearly as many trees there..I hate trees! I've never heard of Baylands...is that on the coast?

Very nice plane. I wanted to order that too, but for certain reasons (waiting time) I ordered a Flower 3 which is kind of similar. But I must say the space looks better. Airfoil, size and price are almost the same.

Tempest,

The only downfall for me at RSA is the rough grounds. I don't and will not fly the SP early on the weekends when all the spectators and park flyers are out there. I know what you mean, trust me. I tend to go on the weekdays around noon and if i go on the weekend it will be later on around 1:00ish. At those times you pretty much have the field to yourself, especially on the weekdays.

Baylands is a park off of Lawrence Expressway and Highway 237. It's some sort of wildlife preserve although they alow electric flying. Its a well kept grass field and it's huge. Most of the electric guys are done around 11:00AM, after that a couple of kite people but they tend to stay at the edges of the field. The only downfall to Baylands is that you high trees right behind you so all your flying has to be infront of you, and second, if you lay the highstart along the length of the grass field, 9 out of 10 times you'll have a crosswind. Other than that Baylands is great.

I know the field in Gilroy, it is no longer available and the guys are looking for another field. I have heard of another field at some Curtis school in Sunnyvale that I'll have to check out.

You know, flying is spur of the moment for me. I probably wont be flying the SP at rancho for a while, until I get used to it.

I'm usually out with the SD at Rancho on the weekends when the crowd has cleared, around noon. My friend has a Space Pro that he flies at Rancho all the time.

Tomorrow we are going to Baylands for my SP's maiden flight. We'll be there around 1:30, feel free to stop by:)

That's unfortunate that the field in Gilroy is lost, I had a lot of good times there teaching myself how to fly...

Be a man.....................fly your SP out at RANCHO, much better thermals then BAY LANDS. Today would be a perfect day for thermals. I'll try to make it out at BAY LANDS.

Flew the SP today and she flew great. Of course I had some help to get me started. My first launch all by myself sucked! As I let go, the tail hit me on the back of the head, OUCH, it flew great afterwards, luckily no one was watching:)

Seems like I'm getting way too much slop on the flaps. I think it might have to do with the tpe of horns that were supplied. The ailreon and flap horns were identical, they come up a little bit then come straight out, sorta like an 'L' shape. They seem to work fine for the ailerons but were the wrong choice for the flaps. I did try cutting the long part of the 'L' shape and made a new hole, the flaps come down further without touching the wing but the slop is still pretty bad. My only choice at this time to fix the slop is going to be replacing the existing horns with actual flap horns, more of a triangular shape. Iv'e never done this before so I'll try to be real careful. I'm still not sure at this point why I got 4 of the same horns. HHMMM

AAARRGHH! What a beautiful looking plane! They just never seem real until you see a non-funny-looking European guy holding one of these in a local that looks familiar. I haven't gone flying since early last September. I was thinking I'll have the day off from school and work next Monday and it'd be nice to try and get out. Now I KNOW I'll go fly! I've got an Edge Light that flys like a dream :) Congratulations on hitting your head...I mean on the new plane:p

yes the horns should be different..The clevis hook up point on the flaps should be slightly behind the hinge line to have any hope of getting max throw...Don Richman www.hilaunch.com has nice set of horns and are reasonable..You can see the diff in the horns on his web site...The aileron horns ususlly come out ahead of the hinge line..I think you have it figured out correctly..Hope that is helpful..Brian

I discovered on my molded Psyko that if I use threaded rod with metal clevis on both ends I too was finding too much slop...I solder one metal clevice on one end and used a strong plastic clevis on the other end and cured my slop problems..But the right angle on the horns is helpful also....Brian

Thanks Brian, I did order flap horns from Don at HiLaunch. I should be getting them in any day now. I'm starting to realize now why I got this plane at a good price. No instructions, probably the wrong hardware. Oh well, at least the most important part ( the plane ) is nicely put together and built.

When I get all the clevises adjusted and trimmed out I put thin CA on the clevis threads. You can also put some on the horn/clevise points, let dry and break free. Works great!
