See the gas tank. Its a dubro and has the protrusion part on the bottom. I have the tank in the way it is so the lowest point will be the protrusion and have the metal tubing curling around to hit that spot. I was thinking of drilling it and putting in a fitting so I take fuel right off the bottom of the tank.
Is this hard to do so it wont leak or should I do that and seal it up with some epoxy or keep it the way it is? What is my best bet?

Thanks.

Use the tank as is, without drilling a hole in the bottom. But use the 'clunk' that came with the tank. Otherwise, each time you back off the throttle and the fuel sloshes forward you will get a lean out condition and possibly stall your engine. With the clunk, as designed, it moves around with the fuel.

As the boat moves mostly forwards, wouldnt the tank be better the other way round?.. so as the boat moves forwards the fuel is where the 'clunk' is?...
As the picture shows, the 'clunk' would be at the front of the tank.. the fuel at the back of the tank..
Just thinking out loud.... :o

Toes,
This discussion has been beat to death many times before with pro's and con's both ways. You do have a valid point though but it is a clunk tank and let it do it's job. One of the big problems with gas boats is vibration vs. length of fuel line. The longer the fuel line the more bubbles that can be formed because of vibration causing the engine to lean out.

Well, no the clunk would not normally be at the front (rear in this case) of the tank. More like hanging in the middle just above the bottom. You are never going to get 100% of the fuel out anyway. But using a clunk will prevent the fuel slosh from a 1/2 empty tank draining the line dry by having a fixed solid line at the front (rear) of the tank.
On a fast boat, letting off the throttle makes a huge decrease in forward speed, so I am sure it would create a fuel supply problem.
On a related note, I have an older video of drag boats. Several runs in the video show drivers going right over the front of the boat as they let off the gas! Now that is a lot of drag!! (lol, pun yes I know!)
