Rather than Westport Lake, I decided to take a trip to Blackpool and Fylde Model boat club who were putting on a display at the friends of fairhaven lake society's 4th annual classic boat regatta, featuring some rather nice vintage speed boats :D :D :D and some equally nice models :),

I got there early to trial my new baby, it performed as can be expected for a toy, however later on in the day she performed better, :)...

Nice pics Ghost!
Whose speedboat was that? My mate's got an Essex (Capri motor! more or less) V6 powered speedboat of some kind (might be a Delta) - shame I didn't get to Fairhaven... but I went flying my helicopter instead :( :D

Tach.

cant recall the guys names, however I hope they had a safe trip back home.

One if the boats was from Chelmsford Essex. first one was an Albatros, the second was a V6 Delta and by heck it went! it had "V6 Sport down the sides if i recall, 3litre job :) beautiful boat :)

thanks Tom, however i had to do a full drive train strip down, got home and the shaft queeled a lot, so it got stripped and oiled :)

the fun bit was the blast around the lake in the speed boat :D that was worth it.

romping along at a nice pace, almost on the plane "this just cracked open?" i asked the skipper, next thing ROAAARRRRRR!!!!! it may of only had 100hp but thats all it needed! the sound was awsome!

Ghost, I know that feeling you describe. I love it so much that I work for peanuts once a month or so just to be around them at the boat races. Something about water, horsepower, and the smell of racing fuel that just excites the senses :D

Kmot, just because you like cars and planes too, the last two are for you. The P-51 flew in during the car/boat show, unannounced. Made a 300+ knot (probably closer to 350 kts) pass on the deck before landing! The sound of that Merlin and supercharger humming gave me cold chills :D

I never knew the Supervee 27 was modeled after a full size boat!

Kmot, It might be the other way around! Hmmmm, we are racing this coming weekend, maybe I should get some hull pics of a SuperVee27 and compare... Naw, couldn't be <---devilish laugh

rhumbline, the nice part was when the boat was bouncing over wakes of other boats, he did it once, then having done a few doughnuts on the water, (HE HE HE HE :D :D :D ) it was off again! nothing more fun than bouncing of other boat washes!

My thoughts exactly! :) Between the "inland running" a week or so ago and being in the big "ocean swell" now, your boats are really seeing the "world"! that is great that you are putting all of those miles under their keels in such a variety of locations!

Hee hee, looks like "green peace" was parked next to one of your South Sands boats there in the display! ;)

yup, I took Gemini because of the problem of lubricating impeller type thrusters after use in salt water, as you cant strip them down easily, rather not have the worry :) gemini had a full strip down of her drive train. the R/C fun part was having Gemini plunge head long into those waves, and come out the other side. Malc even had those lindberg trawlers on the water at about the same time, that just rode them as if it were flat calm!

Thanks for the pictures Ghost. Glad you had a nice day. For next year I'll see if I can talk "them" into a prize for "most rescued":)

By the way, that PT boat is 1:60 scale and completey scratch built.
