Who is going to the F3B world championship in Switzerland?
Lets get things kicked off regarding the subject. Who do you expect to be challenging? What do you regard to be the plane of the moment in F3B? Who will win the team prize?
I guess we will find out soon enough as the contest is held between the 8th and the 14th of July.

Maybe we should start a poll with all the F3B WC teams and we can place our bets before the games start.
Winner gets.....
Does anyone have the official entry list of pilots. I didn't see it on the WC site.

Lets start a pool.
Good luck to all, but JUST a bit more to the USA team!
I hope that the weather is good for the comp, that seems to really make most events.

heading to the f3b worlds in a couple of weeks....should have a great time over there.....there are lots of different models out there now that could take it outright in the hands of a good flyer.....taking a couple of crossfires and a X21 as back up to the worlds.....the swiss will be hard to beat on home soil and would expect the germans to be right up there.....will be going over to do my best..thats all i can do....its a bit of a trek to get to switzerland from down here in new zealand......cheers craig

Mike Smith is loaded with 3 Altus models, Dieter Perlick designs T-tail YEA BABY!
Aaron Valdes is sporting some Radicals.
Thomas K. is flying Tools and Crossfires.
At last I heard anyway
I predict the USA team will place 1 in the top 10 and 2 in the top 15. I wish I would say more but they simply do not get the experence in F3B comps in the USA. They are flying great and working hard but are on their own. I hope they prove me wrong!!

I just got back from practicing all day with 2 of the three pilots on this year's US F3b team. My name is David Klein, and I have volunteered to be one of the teams helpers, operating the turnarounds at the 2007 WC. Tom Copp is right, Aaron is sporting three brand new Radicals and man they look great. Mike Smith is flying a pair of Dieter Perlick Altus (not sure what the pleural term is) as well as a pair of MW3 Estrellas. Tom Kiesling has a pair of Tools and a pair of Crossfires. After Tom's first practice with his new Tools, he decided they are easier to fly well (compared to the Crossfire) and decided to fly them. This may change in the next month.

The Team leaves for Switzerland on July 3rd.
For Fund raising the team is selling Shirts and Raffle Tickets. There are 3 Unlimited class planes in the raffle, a full synthesized and Spektumized 9303 and many more goodies. The US soaring community has been very generous with their support. There is less than two weeks left before the raffle is drawn. The raffle will take place at the JR Aerotow in Champagne IL. Please show your suport and pick up a few tickets online at the Team Website

BTW, I would bet that the US team places second, with all at least two of the three pilots in the top ten and the third very close. The Luck factor keeps me from betting that they will all place in the top ten. All three pilots are very capable, skilled, and without any bad luck will do very well. They will not be bested in the speed task, they are all extremely fast.

Any input from any of the other national teams from around the globe?
or is it only Team USA competing?

Denis Duchesne, Steve Hansoule and Alex Barbier are Team Belgium.
They all fly Caracho3000 but Denis and Alex fly the special Belgian designed CarachoX which is in fact a X-tail variation.
Denis is in very good shape and even won the Kirsheim open in April (see my small report here (http://www.f3zone.be/articles.php?ref=KIRCHEIM_fr) ) .
Steve is the young hotshot from the team but unfortunately he got ill last week and if he manages to recover quick enough he will probably still be rather weak in Switzerland.
Alex Barbier was reserve #1 for the Team and learned only a few weeks ago that he was replacing Denis Quindot who couldn't go anymore to Switzrland. So he is lacking a bit of training but he's got the skills and motivation to keep up with the best.
I think this Team could well get us some very good personal and team rankings this summer.

Hey guys, just a reminder to everyone that there is only a week left before the US F3b team holds their raffle. Many US vendors have been vary generous with their raffle donations. The US soaring community has been fantastic with all of their support but we are still five thousand shy of our goal with less than three weeks to go. There are 3 unlimited class sailplanes up for grabs plus tons of other goodies. Don't get left without a chance to win.
Thanks for your Support,
David Klein

Hey guys,
Just thought I would chime in here since I just joined this forum. I want to thank each and every one of you for your generous support this year. We are set to go. Departure from San Diego is set for Tuesday July 3rd. We have a good team set to represent the US in a soaring environment like nothing we experience here in the States. Based on the Finland Worlds, each and every US team member is capable of a top ten placing. But, man, not one of us can afford more than one mistake. It will be tough. Every flight will pose it's own special strategy, and require subtle adjustments to the flight plan.....I can't wait. Aaron can't wait. And Tom is wanting this thing to happen man!!!! Our crew is set. We have Craig Greening holding down the TM duties, and manning the winches at base A, and not the least of his valued input will be a level head watching the competition, and providing assesments. Dave is our energetic, enthusiastic base B guy. He will be learning that F3B is really a fitness program with all the walking, running and occasional all out sprinting. And last but not least is Peter Baumeler. He is new to this stuff, and is in for quite the cool education. Peter has family in Lucerne, and will be in charge of most of our team logistics.
Please stay tuned, and check out the WC website for up to date postings of scores and maybe even various team notes. I do think they will be providing WiFi on the field, so we should be able to get some updates out. No promises on the everyday notes though. At the end of the day, I for one am looking forward to a shower, food and a bed. :D
Thanks again all.
