I dont know if some people already know them butthey are so funny,
the idea is to attach one of them in the fpv/auv plane in order to switch it on from the transmitter and see where is the plane,
some people use it to point the stars, some others just to have fun exploding ballons with the laser or lighting match's
they are visible in the air, and got an high (very high) visual range,
if we remove batterys and all, and we just keep important thing (led and so on) sure it dont weight much more than 10 gr...

So are you saying that these lasers, with enough power to light cigarettes, cigars and pop balloons by instantly burning them, are being mounted on indoor RC planes and being flown with spectators around?

I think the green ones are not eye safe. I can't imagine putting one on an airplane.

Here's a piece of irony for this post. This just happened in Boise, Idaho the other day. A few of these instances happened not long after 911. If I recall one was in Denver and one around Washington DC. It isn't looked upon very fondly. The saving grace for us at least is the instances didn't happen with lasers strapped on RC planes.

Although this was an intentional prank buy a couple of stupid non thinking teenagers, it underscores the potential to get oneself in trouble without even meaning to. From a risk mitigation standpoint the odds of doing real damage may be pretty light. But if a laser strapped to an RC aircraft were to sweep through an aircraft cockpit in your area, it would potentially reflect very poorly on all people using RC planes. There is no real benefit in putting a laser on an RC plane. It would just be a fun stunt. But the ramifications of causing grief don't weigh well against any fun one might have.
Anyhow, I guess this is coming across like a lecture and that isn’t the intent. We just all need to speak up and ensure among our ranks we’re not doing something without thinking it through carefully.

Hey, I've seen that video before. Most impressive but definitely designed to be a killing weapon system. I’ve designed a plane and taken pictures of agriculture with it. It became pretty high interest with a lot of visibility.

You would be surprised hww many people ask if I can fly over their favorite hunting spot before the season opens to spot game. I tell them to take a flying leap. I don’t want my work to be associated with any activity that will get me grief from someone. I figure they already have a 30.06, camouflage clothes and a tree stand and if that’s not enough advantage over the game then maybe they should just go to the grocery store and stock up on beef. :D As a meat eater I appreciate good fish and game. But some guys get a little carried away.
Thanks for posting that video. I hadn’t seen it in a while.
