prop shaft

When i mount my prop, going from aft toward the bow it would be,
1. prop nut
2. prop
3. drive dog
4. thrust washer

My question. Does the thrust washer get pushed against the stuffing tube or is there a space between the end of the stuffing tube and drive dog? Any pictures?

kinda depends on which type of drive shaft you're using. if you're using a solid(1/8" or larger) shaft I think you leave a very small gap(about the thickness of a piece of paper), for a flex shaft you would leave an 1/8" gap.

Seeing that I just epoxied the stuffing tube in the hull, I may need a short sleeve on the shaft to make up the difference. I'm new!
