On May 19, 2007 we visited the Tonto Natural Bridge in Arizona just 13 miles north of Payson. It is a natural tunnel (like a cave)... huge. You can hike through it and enjoy it. While we were there they had such a nice grass park area I decided to throw up my SS. The winds through the canyon were very interesting. On one side of the canyon there was a nice up draft and cross wind.

Very nice!... I had envisioned that the bridge was more remote and not as accessible as it is... Definitely going to have to move it up on my "to visit" list... I liked the previous vid on the web link, too... Is that northern or N of Phoenix?...

Kevin, Tonto Natural Bridge is a nice place to visit... easy to get to and easy to find.
Most of my videos are in Mesa. I think the other one was I60 and Elsworth. Here is a really high flying one at the same location:

There was a house fire going on a few miles away... I didn't know till I viewed the video.

That was a good one... I could see the landmarks better on that one... Fire was a good catch and I really liked the shadow of the plane to landing... Thanks...

Nice video Qrome,
The area looks like volcanic formed Basalt or Rhyolite although I didn’t see any basalt pillars. However the last shot looking in the bridge had more of a limestone or other sedimentary rock look to it. I was thinking it must be a lava tube till I saw that last shot. Was it formed by water dissolving minerals while heading down that drain?

Dan, You are correct... it was first formed by lava then finished off by water -- something like that. I really wish I could have gotten some better views but the canyon had some strange wind patterns.
