Hi guys, I am a senior at Florida International University located in Miami, Florida working on an autonomous landing r/c airplane for my senior design class. Thought you guys would be interested in it. Here is a link to our proposal. http://web.eng.fiu.edu/~arellano/4010/studentssamples/ezlandersenior%20ii%20proposal_05_03.doc Right now we are doing research and experimentation using PID control algorithms. I will continue to post any updates of the project here.

That is quite a proposal! Good job! I think you will have success. Please keep us updated on your experimental progress. I am personally curious as to how your system behaves between the time the ground is 3 feet away and when it lands. That seems like the most crutial part of the landing that requires the most accurate measurements for airspeed and height above ground. Your price target of $100 may be little low considering the GPS and sensors will be about $150. Also, keep in mind that you are only about 36 mountain dews and 2 late nights away from a full blown autopilot system. :)
