i'd love to see an article by mark drela describing the airfoil choices/designs for his various designs and at each span position. i know there was a short note in RCSD a few years ago:

for any particular design, can anyone explain the significant characteristics of the airfoil at each span position and why they are different from the airfoils at the other span positions? i'm sure it's a combination of things, particularly reynolds number, but is it higher achievable Cl before stall, minimum Cd at a different Cl, a wider drag bucket, ...?
