Okay, I am just a little miffed that the aftermarket receiver market is bowing to the pressure of spread spectrum and dissapearing. In my opinion, ss is not fully tested to put in things like all carbon slope soarers dsing between microwave towers. Anyway, I like 50mhz and would like to keep using it, and putting receivers in future planes I build. Assuming I can find any. In the last 3 months most manufacturers have sold out their stock and won't be making any more. It stinks. It's like people who say Amateur Radio is outdated because of cell phones and the internet. So here is my idea. I am not that good at designing things but I love to build them. I think there is enough collective knowledge in this group to design a handful of receivers, or figure out modifications to existing ones, and publish open source circuit designs and bills of material. I like Gordon's Pulsestar but it is big and does way more than I am looking for. I am thinking some simple 4-7 channel dual conversion rx's without anything fancy on 50 Mhz. Then you take a parts list, call Mouser or Digikey, print out a circuit board layout, etch a board and away you go. Any thoughts? Is this a good idea? I would do it myself but I lack the know-how, although I am trying to learn.
