There is no FCC or CE labeling on many of the RC products I buy. Are these small to medium companies just ignoring regulations and trying to stay below the governments radar? I know that FCC 15.103(h) exempts battery powered equipment, but that is only if it doesn't generate or use any frequency above 1.7 mhz. Most small microcontrollers run at much higher frequencies than that. Is there some other loophole that I don't know about?
I am considering building and selling some of my small hobby designs in my spare time, but there is no way to justify the cost of EMI/EMC testing and certification for low volume, low cost products. I also don't want to be hit with fines and legal fees. I know there are at least a few people on this forum who build and sell small electronic products, and wonder how they handle regulatory compliance.
