Every year in on the 3rd weekend in may, the local model boat club host a display at the Anacortes Waterfront Festival. In years past this has been a great show with as many as 60 models on display over the 2 day event. This year, we had about a 1/3 of the models. The weather was not a good as it can be ( windy, and wet--in the Pacific NW no less-----shocking  :p ). Never the less I was there with some of my models to enjoy a cuople days rest. Not much in the water, as mentioned before, the weather was not as cooperative. So I will share some of the photos of models and some real vessels that were there visiting (or are station there). This is a oil refinery town so I did see a lot of tug and tanker action on Sat. morn. Unfortunetly, I didn't have the camera with me. :censored:

Is this in addition to the batch that just showed up from Gary King or were they someplace else? :)

What is the boat that looks like a almost flat bottomed minehunter Dakota creek photo YTT 10 on the bow. Very strange. almost as strange as a springer. :D
I have castings of the paddle engine partily machined but not well. I dont have the plans for it  so Im not game to try to repair/finish it at the moment.
Regards
Nick

There were more pics, but for some reason they got erased while downloading. Will keep adding more as time allows this morning and tonight.
mi, Gary was at a tug event up on Vancouver Island this weekend.
Nick, That is a tug boat the navy has for salvage work in Puget Sound. It is deffinetly a different style.

That's a pretty nice rendition of the Midwest PT. A lot of customization went into that one.

Here are a few of the fine detail shots. Most are on the "Hoga". "Hoga" was scratch built by Larry Stiles in 1/32nd scale and features a fiberglass hull, plastic superstucture and details galore.
The other boat with lots of details was Mel Suzles "Mustang" in 1/24th scale. Built on a Gary King fiberglass hull ( won at a raffel from previous regatta), tghe rest of the model is scratch built. The house is all made of Sintra as well as many of the details. This model is very complete including the interior. Mel was lucky enough to go out on the real mustang up in Vancouver for a day to run the real boat after meeting the owner at a Foss Cup event, 2 years ago.
Gary Foss is loaded with details inside and out. The model was scratch built from copies of the original drawings and built like the real boat in 1/32nd scale. All the wood planks on the model were cut on a full size table saw to meet scale specifications.

Mel did do some modification. the thing you can not see is that the torpedos really do run. Will see if I can get a shot at the regatta next month in Bellevue.
Smart--enjoy sharing the photos so others can see what happens here in the northern PNW since we have an active schedual from now til November.

Nice collection of boats Keith! Participating in waterfront festivals sounds like great "PR" for our hobby! :)
Looks like a 45' YTL type tug parked next to "Gary Foss"... any info/pictures on/of it? :)

Aero, the boat wasb uilt on the Microglass hull to match the scale on the Hoga. The rest of the boat was built with styrene. Most of the details were compared with a couple of the actuall boats in the area that Larry took photos of. Will see If I have more shots of this little beauty.

Thanks Keith! judging from the size, it looks like the 1/32nd scale version? :)

Hey, for those in the PNW, this upcomming weekend is the annual Waterfront festival in Annacortes, WA. Lots to see and do. The Skagit R/C Ship Modelers will be there along with the NW R/C Ship Modelers with a static display and an area to run boats in the saltwater in the harbor. Hope to see you there!!

Is that Saturday and Sunday, Keith? Might have to make the trip down. Momma Bear can do some window shopping while the boys play at the harbor. :D
Anything interesting on the ways at Dakota Creek?
