Got my picopilot yesterday!

While recovering of the pain I felt when I had to pay 121 Euro (163 Usd) for tax only,I've been thinking about the platform to use and what modifications to make.

I've a picopilot Nav+Alt3T.It steers the rudder and holds altitude by throttle management.

While brushing my teeth last night this idea came to me:

Why not add a little elevator to throttle to improve altitudehold?

Workshop used a mixer of veetail (www.veetail.com) to mix rudder to ailerons.I'm planning to use 3 mixers.

-one for mixing the rudder to ailerons
-one for setting up the endpoints of the aileronservo's (differential)
-one for mixing a little bit of up-elevator to the throttleservo

Please have a look at my drawing and don't hesitate to give your comment(s).

“Climb on Throttle” should be a natural tendency of the airframe you choose (most do) so adding to that natural tendency may lead to over control and oscillation.

I’m fighting that flight characteristic as I have elevator control (Alt3E) and airspeed control on the throttle AND my airframe climbs on throttle. The cure is aerodynamic and mechanical (thrustline probably) rather than electronic.

Don’t over complicate things while you’re brushing your teeth. Use a soft bristle brush, toothpaste with fluoride, and pay particular attention to the gumline. See your dentist once a year. :)

Thanks workshop.

Seems you're the one who needs a mixer between throttle and elevator, only yours needs to give a little elevator-down when throttle increases.

I'm going to fix the problem with downthrust. I have an adjustable motor mount and a degree down is what I think I'll try first. Your solution will work but I find that reduction in complexity pays off in the long run.
