I bought a Feather Merchant kit by Fred Lehmberg of San Antonio, Texas about four years ago. Originally I was goint to fly it with a K&B 21 Sportster engine. Now I want to go electric.

This bird has a 72" W.S. and 660 sq. in. area. The plans say it will weigh 42 ounces ready to fly.

I have an AXI 2814/12 motor that will turn a 10/6 APC prop at about 7200 rpm static.

Is there someone who has a comment about the proper motor to use? Thanks

That appears to be a decent combo, if used with a 2 cell LiPo (or 6 cell NiMH). You should expect to draw around 20-22 Amps, so select speed controller and cell capacity accordingly. Are you sure it's a 10x6 electric prop? I don't think APC makes a 10x6 electric, but they do make one for glow. Usually, you want the lighter, thinner electric props with an electric motor.
