View Full Version : Discussion DIY transmitter using a Futaba module

Hi, I want to build a transmitter on 72mhz to simply control 4 servos each using it's own receiver and battery so I could control 4 different things set a couple hundred feet apart from each other. I will use servos on 2 positions full right and full left. I was thinking of using regular receivers but I need a small and simple transmitter that would have simply 4 push buttons, one for each servo so that when I will push one button, the servo will go from full right to full left.
I was thinking of using a Futaba transmitter module for doing so but I did not find information about the pins of these modules.
Do you have any information about that?
Do you have any other suggestions?

A reminder - 72 MHz is for model planes only! You can legally do what you discuss only on 27 and 40 Mhz.

Hi there, I have access to a 14MZ module and wanted to use it as a separated transmitter module for a DIY project. Does anyone knows the full pinout of these new Futaba modules and the exact protocol to communicate with it? such as the one required to change modulation PPM - PCM or the transmitting frequency, on the fly?

the module for the 14MZ doesn't have all of the RF circuit on board like the older modules :mad:
i'm guessing that it only has the parts that determine the specific band and not a whole lot more. given its size i doubt there is even room for the output transistor in there.

I see your point, but then how can we explain that you can plugin a 2.4GHZ module? I doubt a potential RF circuitry inside the transmitter could deal with a band large enough to efficiently work in 35MHZ, 72MHZ and 2.4GHZ, but I may be wrong...

being that this radio only gives all 14 channels if used in PCM mode and the 2.4GHz module also gives all 14 i'd say they're somehow converting the digital PCM data to something the new module can handle.
XPS and spektrum module designed for the 14MZ use the DSC or trainer port and not the module connection.
