Any users here run the Eagle Tree in boats?

I'm looking for options of inside the radio box or having a seperate box.

Also, does anyone have any photos of the RPM sensor mounted on a Zenoah Gas engine?

Just thought I would show how I mounted the RPM sensor on a Zenoah for a Boat

Cool, nice mounting work. Is that magnet sunk into the nut face? :)

yep, I drilled a small hole and epoxied the magnet in.

I would put in the radio box and use extension cables (gold plated plugs) to get the connections out side the box by drilling a hole for the ext cables and sealing with silcon seal.
OR you could talk to Bulletmaster on this board he is at least in the same country LOL

I've already mounted the actual recorder, gps and seagull transmitter in a seperate waterproof box that I can move between boats. I'll have to get a photo or two of it. But I did use connectors and ext cables for the link to the servos

Hi John!

Did You use the antenna on the Seagull TX or did You replace it?

I wonder if the antenna could be changed without affecting the range or anything else because I really want to have a totally sealed compartment for the radio and ET components. The best way for that would be to have an antenna that is permanently mounted on the deck of the boat and attach the Seagull TX on the inside of the radio compartment.

Please see the attached picture and com with ideas! :-)

Thanx!

The biggest problem is the combined size of the BDR, GPS expander and Seagull transmitter + wires makes for a lot of real estate inside a radio box that is only designed for two servos a receiver and a battery pack.

That is why I went for an external box to mount all the eagle tree gear. This has created it's own problem in that the weight and size of the waterproof external box makes it difficult to mount and impacts on the handling of some of my boats.

I really want to go the way you are heading and have everything inside the radio box. So if you can fit it in there, go for it.

To answer your question. The antenna on the seagull is just a stiff wire. You could mount the unit inside the radio box with some velco and I just have the antenna poke through a hole in the box. You could seal this hole with some silicon or you could use one of the rubber boots used to seal push rods exiting radio boxes.

Where you have indicated would work. You could also run straight out the transom as the antenna doesn't have stick straight up in the air. I have mine mounted horizontally .

Thanx John!

The type of boat I'm racing with doesn't leave any room for an external box for the BDR... But on the other hand, the radio compartment (that houses 4 servos, RX, cell pack...) has enough space for it.

The idea of letting it stick out of the transome is actually cool! I'll give that some thought!

Since the RX antenna and the Seagull TX antenna will be pretty close to each other I think that I will have to mount the SG Tx antenna horizontaly to eliminate them from disturbing each other...

Thanx for the input! I'' let You know how it all works out!

All the best
