Ok so who is going to feel me in on all the Large/Giant electrics that were at the SEFF last weekend. From some pictures I has see there were a lot of 33% and larger ones flying around but no one is talking about then.
Thanks guys

There were several. Off the top of my head, there was a GP 160 Ulimate powered with an Astro 120 on 10s. Flew well and the sound of the CF prop turning +/- 7000 rpm was impressive. Check out Team Astro for that one. CC had a 1/3 scale Matt Chapman CAP. Had a lipo fire on Fri when one set of batteries became disconnected. That overloaded the one set, which caught fire. Flew great on a big Hacker A150 or 200. It had a prototype 20S Castle speed control in it. Several other flew. Most had big Hacker outrunners.

I've seen pictures of that giant cap 232 on fire, anyone know what happened to it?

One of the sets of paralleled cells disconnected inflight. This overloaded the other set. The plane was fine and flew the next day.

One of the photos shows two of the new planes from Hobby Lobby, the 85" Gee Bee Model Y (yellow and black) and the 79" Tiger Moth in the DeHavilland School of Flying color scheme. Both will be available from Hobby Lobby in the next couple of months.
The big GB has an AXI 5345 motor and runs on either 10s or 12s batteries. A very sweet performer. Weighs 15.7 pounds and has enough power to climb perfectly straight up (not a very scale maneuver).
The Tiger Moth weights in at 14 pounds. This is very light particularly in light of the 11-3/4 sq. ft. of wing area. The plane handles beautifully and looks great in the air. I am particularly fond of the training school colors on this model, it even comes with the rear cockpit hood (for instrument training).

Both the Gee Bee and the Tiger Moth flew great at SEFF. Can't wait to see them hit the market.

I hope they put the corrugations in the wing fuel tank on the Tiggy. Just doesn't look quite right without them. It did look like it flew well.
I loved the big GeeBee. One of my favorite planes.
You also forgot that huge Jenny that flew out there. It was huge!
Did the 757 qualify as Giant Scale? Also watched the Storch fly. It was impressive too.

The 767 sure does, I just didn't get a picture. The best flight was the one at dusk with the lights. The Jenny just seemed to float out there. It was right at home a Hodges field with the Cub (full scale).

When is the SHV castle controller coming out? It seems like it's been a long time since they last mentioned it.....

Did any of you see the 150 size warbirds from Hanger 9 fly.
I have the P-47 and a e-flight 160 motor and just wondering if they flew nice with this motor.

I saw them fly and they looked so good I almost went out and bought one!! I never found out what power was in the demo models, but, I think the boxes said 1.20 glow for power. So, the 160 should do fine.

The unit in the CAP was a prototype. No date was given for general release.

I believe that they were running Power 160 on 10s Thunder Power packs.

Both the P-47 and P-51 were powered by E-flite 160s and Thunder Power 10S set ups. I assembled and flew the P-51 with an APCe 19x12 and the combination pulled 75 amps static. I liked the power setup and thought it had excellent vertical at 16 lbs. No heating problems but you can't run it wide open for the entire flight. Most of the cruising around was at just over half stick and high speed passes and climbs were at wide open power.

Any idea if that large Storch is a kit or was scratch built?

Thanks. I am used to hackers and was hoping the e-flight 160 flew that plane well.
Thanks
