I've had lots of battery trouble before so i looked into it and found a decent bit of kit to mount in the plane.

Its called an Emcotec DPSI BIC, basically it tells you everything about the batterys including flight loading, current draw, how much mah its taken, if it peaked etc etc.

The unit basicaly provides me with masses of battery information, it allows you to use two batteries on the reciever and ensures they have a constant voltage to your receiver and servos.

The unit draws equal power from the two batteries, i.e. if a 1amp load is required the BIC will draw 0.5amps from each battery. The BIC allows the user to program the unit to monitor their desired batteries. The unit has a LCD screen, which shows details including battery voltage, runtime, current draw and much more.

The switch for the BIC si also quite impressice it has an inbuilt bright LED and a high db buzzer which indicates the unit is on, and indicates if there is a fault by repeatable buzzing while the LED flashes till the unit is switched off. The switch is an intelligent logic pin switch, (Yeah one of those) if the switch fails or the pin comes out the unit will stay on with power going to the receiver. Other words it fails in the on position.

Using the current draw thing, you can tell if you have a servo off, or binding and if its drawing too much current. It really lets you know what your servos are doing in the air. Its cool.

Heres some pics for now, but i'll try make a video of it to show you its full potential.

Be advised the plane is a petrol model operating two 6V batteries on the Rx and 1 on the igniton (Ign not plugged into the unit)

Note: The batteries are both 6V 2000s. On the current draw and maximum draw, i had only one servo working (Rudder) as i could not put the plane together. However when on full 3D rate (4 5985s and 1 5955) the maximum was 6.56 amps for a brief second, but is still recorded.

Cheers

PS: Full spec of model is available on my profile.
