Here are some pics of what it use to look like. The wing only pics are the only ones that are of my exact aircraft. I forgot to take a pic of the fuselage before i stripped the covering off.

DJ, this is a good way to communicate with the club members as well as the rest of the state, region and US in general. I know I follow several forms one of those being the ExtremeLink on RCGroups and the Flying Circus on FG.
I am at work right now but I will post some pictures when I get home later tonight.
We did get a lot done last night at the meeting.

Hobby People EF-16, its in the shop right now with and esc problem right off the bat. Can't wait to get it back and see how fast it really will go. Flew great the first 2 flights, but just wasn't putting out enough thrust. Distrubutor is going to replace the esc and motor to see if that helps.
21oz auw and was only putting out 15oz thrust and drawing only 20.5 amps. It is said that it pulls 26-27amps and puts out about 25oz thrust and does 80-90mph. Easy to build and hobby town has it for $20 cheaper.
I'll let ya'll know the results when I get the esc and motor back.

Boy howdy. What a challenge!
Dumas free flight rubber kit @ 30" span, Electrified with the RChotdeals.com $16 brushless motor/ESC combo, a pair of 5 gram servos and the $7.00 dealextreme.com 900mah 7.4 lipo batteries. This was one of those lesser known airplanes as it generally hung below a dirigible (thats BLIMP for you Madison County folks) and dropped into flight. Haven't decided if I'm going to add the truss frame hook assembly that fits atop the upper wing just yet. IF it flies twice, perhaps.
Covering is the stock grey and yellow tissue from the kit. Absolutely NO dope, NO stink using Office Depot purple glue sticks and either 70% alcohol or water in atomizer. Finished in light coats of Krylon Matte finish clear acrylic, and Testors enamel on the plastic parts.
All up ready to fly weight is going to be between 11 and 12 ounces.
Have NO idea how many hours this one took..but it was a BUNCH. Jeez, somebody call me to do some Surveying! Or send a friend, your ex-wife, worst enemy that needs a Survey!

Very nice model Dave. I'm working on turning a guillows f-16 into a ducted fan, its gonna be a challenge.
Finally someone else besides me, Todd and Bobby posted here.
By the way I resent the "Madison county folk" remark.

Ok,
Vince used a JPD speed gun to clock my T-38 at about 65mph one day out at Flowood. Of course the few runs he did clock me were going upwind! So I figure 70 is do'able with good batteries.
On another topic, since I are the new Safety Director , I really do think CCRC should fork over some cash to purchase a good---none of this Harbor Freight junk---3/4" drive torque wrench and sockets so that I may, randomly, check and veriify the tightness of Todd and Bobbys' propellers. :D
Dave
ps....you want to something FAST?
MUUUUHAAAAAAAAHAAAAAA!
UPS just delivered the kit moments ago.....stay tuned for Daves BOH! (here's a clue....the "B" is for "Bat!")

Well, went out to the CCRC field this afternoon late figuring the winds would be down and I'd be all alone to witness the lifespan of my little Curtiss.
Get to the field and here's Jake Weaver, Richard Coleman and our latest "member to be" a gentleman named Steve. I gave Steve the .com addresses of this site as well as some others to get him really stirred up in our hobby. He'll make a fine member and pilot!
So Jake and Richard are just starting a trainer/sport plane....and they are on channel 24. What are the chances? :D They flew around a bit and then handed "the stage" over to see what would happen.
Wind out of the S-SE at about 5 or so, so after performing a complete systems check including range checking (I are the Safety Director ya dig) with the little Berg 4 performing flawlessly, it was time to head down to the west end of the runway and take off cross runway into the wind.
About 65% power and the little Curtiss rolled out about 20 feet and lifted off. Climbing out I heard Richard exclaim ""BEAUTIFUL!" from the shed. I thought to myself "Oh NO! Don't say it!" :D as the little Curtiss climbed with authority. A click of up and a click of left and she's flying like a Speed 400 Super Cub! Flew around with some altitude for about 10 minutes at about 60% power and then set up for the landing coming out of the North. Kept a little power on and set her down on the runway with a flair at about an inch off the deck. She rolls out a few feet and comes to a stop.
As for maiden flights being rated from 1-10, this one was a 48! :D
Rube, AKA Dave Huff
ps---if you look in the scale electric planes forum I listed the details, and there is even a build thread and video of the same plane built by a fellow in Arizona....that I wasn't aware of until I had finished mine. Check out the link and the video for sure!

Sounds great, I cant wait to see it fly. I went out to the field 2 tuesdays ago just to look around and get some ideas and the aux field looks great where we lined it out. i just gotta get out there now and chalk the runway edges. I might come out this weenkend, my extra 300 needs it wings stretched.

here's my latest contraption. i got bored the other day and remembered seeing an article in a magazine where a club had a build and fly day (only take about 2 hours or less to convert these) and took some cheap foam gliders and converted them to rc. i took it one step further and found a mini glider. yes it actually flew, need more power though.

Here are some photos of my latest. The biplane is the E-flite Ultimate FX 3D kit I purchased from Bernie at the swap meet. It will fly on an E-flight 400 class motor with an 1200 mah Thunder Power LiPo and an E-flite ESC. The other craft is from plans from www.3dfoamy.com and is called the VTO (vertical takeoff). It is constructed using 6 mm Depron. It will fly with a Hacker A30-8XI brushless motor, a Hacker X-70opto-pro ESC and a 2200 mah Thunder Power LiPo. This thing should singe the grass as it passes with that set-up. I am constructing the motor mount now and after this,I will paint it a garish color scheme, attach the control surfaces and the servos and linkages. You will see these at the Magnolia Classic! I, also, have plans to construct an electric autogyro but this will probably not be finished by the "Classic". :D :D

well the sukhoi isn't going to make the magnolia classic this year. i had some problems with paint (check out the pics) bubbling up and making spider cracks all over the plane. i decided to go ahead and strip the paint off and use monokote. the wings are already monokoted.

Do those guys in the NASCAR teams you are flying around the country freak out when you make a right turn?
 "Attention gentlemen, we are 30 minutes from landing at Dover, the temperature is 54 degrees with a light north wind....we'll be making a right handed landing pattern....."     :censored:

Caught up with DJ this afternoon as he invited me to fly with himself and Brian Frazier out at Slobovia. Brian had already called it a day when I got there so I had DJ as my guest at the MMRCC field. He flew several of his electric planes---I won't "steal his thunder" on the latest one.....I managed to charge a few batteries, fly my Lil' Extra and then right before DJ had to split Terrance showed up followed not long later by Vince.
With the advent of a fantastic sundown coupled with a full moon rising in the east, I tried my latest:

Here's the thunder dave was talking about. Got a little detailing to do but this is it for now.
GWS A-10
Twin Hobby-Lobby XF-Fan 5100 Inrunner Brushless Motors
Twin XF-56mm Fans
Twin Bphobbies 40amp brushless esc's (read a good review about bphobbies motors and esc's and they're cheap to.)
27oz auw
30oz static thrust with an align 2100mah 20c 11.1v - should be more thrust when i get my flight power batt.
36amps 380watts @ max power
20amps 230wats @ half power. flies great on half power.
more to come.
