Drive shaft for a hydro

Gday all.

Thanks for everyones help with all my other posts. Know i am trying to
find out how to set my drive shaft up properly. I am not sure if i
should use washers any where or not. I have the flex drive going
through the stuffing tube then through the strut and then there is the
dog drive and prop. Is this all there is for this basic set up or am i
missing something. I am also worried that the flex cable will wear out
the brass stuffing tube in no time. Any tips or past experiences would
be appreciated.

Put a thrust washer between the drive dog and the strut. Did you
mention before if you had a square or round shaft collet for your flex
shaft? Make sure you leave a gap between the drive dog and strut and
the flex shaft will shrink when ity is under load. For a square collet
you only need 3-5mm gap and for a round collet leave 10-15mm

Just make sure you grease up the flex shaft before you run the boat and
it will be fine. Always remove you flex shaft at the end of the day. I
soak mine in a PVC pipe filled with auto trans fluid which prevents the
flex core from rusting.
