FF9 and 401 gyro setup.

I have just fitted a Futaba 401 gyro with S9254 servo to my shuttle.

Having taken it to the field to have it set up, as I am quite helis, the
gyro sensitivity was set up on my FF9 using the endpoint adjustments rather
than the gyro sensitivity. When I asked, why I was told that was how he
always set them up.

Is there any advantage in using the gyro sensitivity option, rather than the
endpoint adjustment?

I think that depends on how the gyro sensitivity option is programmed in the
transmitter. I've got an original version 9Z transmitter and the gyro
function was designed before or right at the time that HH gyros first came
on the market. At least that's my impression. Anyway, it's not very
intuitive, at least it wasn't for me. I found using the end point
adjustments (ATV's) a lot easier to work with. One side would control gyro
sensitivity in HH mode and the other in normal mode.

I'd try using the gyro controls in the transmitter and see how it goes. If
it works Ok for you the go for it. If not, just inhibit them and use the
ATV functions to control the gyro sensitivity. The 401 won't care one way
or the other.

I am reluctant to mess around too much as I am still struggling with the
basics, but when / if I manage to get comfortable, I will get back to you.

The heli is easier to fly with the new gyro and servo, so I can recommend
that to any one.
