Hey guys, I know that the weather is starting to get really nice in most places and that means sunshine fun, but we all need to remember to keep safe out there. Today my shop manager went to move his motorcycle around the building and put it into the shop to keep the pollen from getting on it. Well he never made it and is lucky to be alive. He lost control of the bike and layed it down, and ended up in the hospital in a near coma state with swelling of his brain. Dr.s are telling us that he has no broken bones but he is not out of the woods yet the next 24-48 hours will give them a better idea. He was in and out of conciousness while I was on the phone to 911 and also as the paramedics were working on him.

If you ride a bike wear a helmet even if you are just moving the bike around the corner. If he had a helmet on he would have only suffered a few scrapes and some bruised ego (he is a seasoned bike rider). Being that he hit is head 2 different times put him in the hospital.

Boaters dont forget to wear lifejackets on small boats and have them handy on the larger ones. Make sure that ALL childern no matter how good of swimmer they are have their's on at ALL times in the boat. Childern tend to panic if they fall overboard even if they are good swimmers they will forget how becase of the panic.

To everyone else who does what ever they do please be careful, I and many others here want to answer your questions and recieve answers to ours when we ask and you cant do that from 6' below.

Very good advice, Massy- from my observations, it always seems to be the "I'm just moving it around the corner" stuff that get the Pro's... Best wishes for your shop manager's speedy recovery.

Also, don't forget the basics when you are running your model boats- May sound silly but, sunscreen, a big hat, sunglasses, and plenty of drinking water are key things to include in your lakeside gear- Glare from the water, etc., combined with some of the hot summer temperatures some of you guys run in can turn a good day into a bad day in a real hurry.

Sorry to hear about the guy. Hope he pulls through okay without any residual brain damage.

I went to see my Manager at the hospital today. He is doing better they took the breathing tubes out and have put him on lighter pain meds and they are not sedating him as much as was with the first 48 hours. He is not out of the woods yet but he will respond to commands like move your fingers or toes. He had bad swelling of his brain in the rear the first day but that went away only to be replaced by swelling in the front. He gets another CAT scan tomorrow to see if that has gotten any better. When my friend and I were there he woke up for a few and recognized us and said "hey" then pretty much fell back asleep. Thank you all for your prayers for him, I will keep you informed of his progress.

D (his Nicname) was one of the few lucky ones, even tho he is in as bad of shape as he is in. Just remember to use the safety equipment that goes with the fun stuff that we all love to do, it is there to save our lives not to get in the way.

I always wear my helmet, and the furthest I've motored the bike without it was 10' into the garage... never got over 3mph...

I'm a firm believer in helmets for bicycles and motorcycles!
