Use a good epoxy to glue the boat together as well as to seal it. Mix
the epoxy with a little fine saw dust to make a thicker glue. Don't use
the 5 minute stuff from walmart, get a quart of West Systems or similar
marine grade epoxy. Mix it in small batches exactly in the proper
ratios and stir very well. After it is mixed stir in your saw dust to
thicken until almost as thick as peanut butter. It you don't want to
use epoxy to glue it up use tightbond III waterproof wood glue. I make
full size boats with it instead of epoxy sometimes and it has never
failed. The epoxy is stronger and more waterproof.

Mixing epoxy with sawdust, carbisol. wood flour, cornstarch or even
talcum powder are all industry standards for making it thicker to use
as glue. The saw dust is very good to use since it is free, soaks up
the epoxy for a super bond and matches the color of the wood better. It
is also good to mix a small amount of unthickened epoxy and paint the
bare wood where you are going to glue it to let it soak in then apply
the glue mix. Full size boats are made with epoxy thickened with wood
dust all around the world every day and it is the proper way of making
the epoxy into a strong and gap filling glue. Search for more info on
this topic on www.boatdesign.net if you are unsure of this method.

Good luck with your project,

JIM
