View Full Version : Wrapping of long lines with no spaces

Is there any way this site can be set up to wrap long lines with no spaces instead of running a line that's so long that the messages can't be read without scrolling?

It usually happens when people post a URL to a photo. They have very long addresses. It's a real pain.

The poster should not post the long link, but rather user the 'url' tag to hide the link behind a 'click here' comment.
I try to fix these when they do that in one of my forums.

I've been trying it in the "science" forum.

I put bracket, url, bracket at the beginning and bracket, /url, bracket at the end, but don't get a "click here" box.

Here's an example

click here (http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1087659&a=12919554&p=49532052&Sequence=0&res=high)

You do (url=http://www.abc.com/abc)click here(/url).. (replace '(' with '[' and so forth).

What I do is just post the long URL, come back to the posting in EDIT and then type over the hotlink text with a short description - let the UBB software do the hard work...

And that long URL is word-wrapped when I read it. But I like Andy's idea so if I notice any in my forums I'll fix 'em for you too http://www.ezonemag.com/disc/smile.gif.
