View Full Version : Why quote replies?

You have an absolutely marvelous operation here. Not only does the software work smoothly but you have a base of many knowledgeable modelers. My only criticism is why does the default for replying to a message include the original quote? This wastes a lot of space and does not seem necessary given the smooth way your threads operate.

Its not really a default. Its just one of two options.
If you want to reply without a quote you can hit the large "Post Reply" link at the top of the thread.
The "reply with quote" is just there for cases when you want to reply to a specific message.

I like to quote the relevant pieces of certan posts to make sure people understand what I'm responding to..
However, I agree it's a pain when people quote the entire preceding message.

It is indeed a marvelous operation. And I especially enjoy the ability to identify a specific part of someones comments and address them as I am doing now. It helps me get directly to the point.
And I can edit it too!
