Looks like some manufacturers are posting reviews of there products either intentionaly, or unintentionaly, as a consumer who has used/evaluated the product. I would recommend an ezone policy that "Manufacturers must start their post with a ""Manufacturers Advertisement"". I don't mind a manufacturer touting a product as long as we know that is what it is.

Could you please provide a link to some examples of this?
Those posts would be immediately deleted by me if they showed up in my forums..

A little upfront declaration would be nice, I agree!

This post would have been deleted in my forum, and a gentle warning issued by email. You may want to email the moderator of the Foamies forum, as he may not be checking in here (just as I have not been checking Foamies, as well as several other forums, for weeks now)..

In Consumer Advocacy, this particular problem has only cropped up once since I started "moderating" it. I can personally say, that it is sometimes a bit hard to spot this type of left-handed advertising. If they are just ranting about how wonderful something is and seem to present it like the example above, it's easy - when they are subtle it is not.

I would recommend that any user who does identify this as happening, bring the thread to the immediate to the attention of the moderator. As you can imagine - such a post would certainly not be permitted in a forum with a purpose such as CONSUMER advocacy.

Also, anyone thinking about this in my forum, don't do it. Just post a title that PLAINLY states you are a Vendor or Manufacturer and submit your article. If you cheat, I will report that to the Administrator.

P.S. Andy, I am still utterly amazed at the number of posts you have submitted! 8588! http://www.ezonemag.com/disc/cool.gif Unbelievable!

People, read the small print under the larger definition of Consumer Advocacy in the list of forums. My computer says it is for advertisments and other things about which some are now objecting. I had rather read them here than a multipage thread hawking a model.

This has been going on with Funflyer for quite some time now. He seems to be a young man with an entreprenuerial spirit that has stepped on a few toes in the past couple of months. While I wouldn't want to quash that spirit, he needs to be made aware of how to properly do business quite often.
First, multiple posts in all the forums. Next, a somewhat serious trademark infraction that was dealt with quickly. Lately a price change in the middle of a transaction and now posting adverts somewhere other than the For Sale forum.
What to do? I guess it still boils down to us Mod-Men doing our thing to keep the traffic moving smoothly or is there some other solution that I'm missing?

Ah

So MW would it be true to say that the ready built Zagis that Funflyer was touting with the wrinkly tape jobs were indeed just knock off copies and not sold under licence from Trick RC? Thought so, but the guy wouldn't answer the question when it was asked directly and the thread stopped there.

The only thing different with this one then would seem to be that it isn't actually using the Zagi tradename- still looks like a "knock-off" though.

Though this might not be a popular viewpoint in some quarters I happen to think that Trick RC, as a proper business that advertises and supports the ezone, should have the support of those ezoners wanting a wing by them buying the pukka article, not a knock-off copy that is spammed through the backdoor on the discussion groups. This while at the same time as Trick RC are paying for legitimate advertising on their ezone banners.

Betcha don't get any candy with them rockit wings neither http://www.ezonemag.com/disc/wink.gif
