I have tried to make my own wiring harness using the DB9 computer connector but my soldering skills are not that great. Anybody out there talented enough to build a wiring harness and post several pictures of the process so the rest of us can follow along?
I have a great computer parts store near my house. They have the DB9 plug without pins. You crimp the pins on the wire then shove the pins into the DB9 housing. Nobody at the store can tell me which crimping tool to buy or how to do the crimping. I bought a Custom electronic crimping tool years ago but I screwed up so many pins that I figured it was cheaper to go ahead and buy servo extensions made by pros.

Wiring up a DB15 easier than a DB9? You're kidding, right??

Hoot, the trick to wiring the DB9 is to load up the pins with solder, tin the ends of your wires with solder, then use the soldering iron to heat the "puddles" of solder in the ends of the pins whilst the wire is resting on top. The solder on the wire should melt, and let the wire drop into the pin.

Don't forget to put some heatshrink on the wire first - onlce the solder is hard and cold, slide the heatshrink down till it covers the pin end. Once they're all done, a quick whack with the ciggie lighter, and you're done!

@ Hoot... Good morning,

First two statements;
1) I am not affiliated with any referenced sites.
2) I do not want to get into the soldered vs crimped wars, both are legitimate methods. Strain relief plays a very big role for both.

Go to this site for reference/illustrations/recommendations and follow the various hyper links indicated.

About 25USD will set you up for a very long illustrious career making crimped or soldered harnesses.

--> Cables & Adapters
--> End Connectors

--> D-sub Crimp DB9m - Shell ;The MALE end pin housing, one required to mate with the other

--> D-sub Crimp DB9f - Shell ;The FEMALE end pin housing, one required to mate with the other

--> D-sub Crimp Pins Male 100 Pk

--> D-sub Crimp Pins Female 100 Pk

*** and from the SUGGESTED ACCESSORIES tab *** ; Buy BOTH of these
--> D-sub Pin Crimping Tool

--> D-sub Pin Insertion & Extract Tool

No soldering required if you feel challenged.

Pick up some heat shrink tube for strain relief.

Yes easier as I build all my harnesses the same for all my planes I like soldering so it doesnt bother me.

On the Mibo web site there is a pic in this form
Deutsche Bauanleitung Xperience Pro-X

This link will get you to it. I think its pic 12 or something

I appreciate all of the good advice. I decided to do a bunch of practice soldering. I bought a nice Weller iron, rosin, 60/40 solder and a handfull of DB9 and DB15 plugs. This weekend I plan on starting my soldering education.
