Just out of curiosity really, are any of you guys flying with Infrared imaging aboard?
My work entails high spec insulation of buildings, and aerial IR shots of the site could be of interest as before/after comparisons.
Thanks,
Brandon

Brandon Kodak produce an I.R. sensitive 35mm film ; should work o.k. in a cheap auto-rewind camera, weight penalty about eight ounces and a micro servo to trigger it.

I'm afraid the Kodak I.R. film won't work for what you need.
It's sensitive to visible wavelengths and to near I.R., just past the bottom of the visible spectrum.
The eye's sensitivity to low frequency light drops off drastically below 700 nm.
The Kodak film is most sensitive at 750nm and extends out to about 900nm.
B&W ccd cams are also sensitive in this range, some are good out to 1100nm or so.
The Sony Handicams have a night shot feature and are good out to about 1400nm.
However, none of this will do you any good.
You need far I.R. to be useful in detecting thermal radiation.
This is past 7000nm. The human body peaks at about 9000nm.
Passive IR detectors made for seeing humans and animals might work for you.
Air is a poor thermal radiator so what you will be imaging
will be the warmer parts of the building.
I'd ask these guys, they seem to have stuff that might work for you, at a price!!
