Ok , I was having trouble with graphics issues with version 4.69 using the new libraries. I don't get the same problems when using clearview on the old libraries. So heres my question, can I still use the old libraries in 4.71 or do I not have access to them anymore? I just wanted to ask before I upgrade.

Do not upgrade if your computer can't handle the new libraries. 4.70 will be the last version where the program is functionally equivalent with the new and old libraries. In any next version, the new functions in ClearView will be available for the new libraries only.

Ok, thanks. So I guess Im staying with 4.69 until I get a new PC. Thanks Skirtz. I'm glad I asked first.

Stefan;

I am getting ready to upgrade to 4.71 - what is the required hardware?

Also, is there anywhere you have old "archived" versions of the program so if I upgrade and my equipment cannot handle it I can step back down to an earlier version (I guess that would be 4.70)?

Thanks

Terry

Open GL 1.3 and higher (any receint NVidia or ATI based video card with new driver is at Open GL 2.0 ). 128 mb video memory. 512mb real memory, 1.0 GHz and up CPU speed. You can try for older version at http://clearviewrc.com/ClearViewSetup470.exe (or try http://clearviewrc.com/ClearViewSetup470.exe)

Well, I shouldn't have anything to wory about no, hopefully that is. I just bought myself a new Laptop PC. Here are my new specs:

DELL Inspiron 1501
Mobile AMD Sempron 3500+ (1.8GHz/512KB)
Windows Vista Home Basic
15.4" Wide Screen XGA Truelife Display
1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz
80GB Hard Drive
ATI RADEON Xpress1150 256MB Hypermemory

I think I'm safe as far as the graphics problems I was having lol.

You may need the latest ATI video driver for Vista (some of the first Vista drivers did not have Open GL support) and indeed you have to disable the UAC, so this may not be smooth sailing. Anyway, congrats on the new notebook.

Whats the UAC? I know I'm about to have alot of fun getting my programs to work in Vista. A coworker a few weeks ago said he was on the phone with verizon tech support for an hour trying to get his broadband internet connection to work. An thanks I'm looking forward to my new notebook. I wish the guys at dell would email me my shipping info and invoice, my folks think its taking a while due to the Easter Holiday. In other words they say I should take my own advice......."patience is a virtue" lol.

What are the best settings for an Nvidia video card to get the best frame rate on this sim? I have a P4 3gig, 2gig memory and a 256 meg Nvidia memory card.

On the Geforce...you can do 2xQ- antialiasing or better.....BUT..make sure that you turn off the Vertical sync....here is a picture of the settings I have...for the longest time I was getting only 75 fps....(that is what my LCD is set for)...I turned off the vertical sync and I went to 355-400 fps on most models...but that is a Geforce 4 6800 Ultra w/256 mem
