So what happened... Who won... What models worked well (and which ones didn't???)
The Istanbul Open was held this past weekend, and it should have been a fairly significant event with competitors who have attended the F3J WC's in the past.
Despite all that, I've not seen word one about what took place (and I've tried to get to JoJo's web site (he attended), but am being denied at present).
Anyone have any details they can share?
Thanks,
Dave

I was there,
8 pilots were in fly off, and fly off results are
1. jan kouhot cz pike-perfect
2. Philip Kolb ger pike perfect
3. sebastian figel ger xperience pro
4. jo grini nor pike perfect
5. benedict figel ger xperience pro
6. primoz rizner slo vision
7 murat esibatır tur pike perfect
8. mustafa koç tur pike perfect
there may be some mistakes except top 3 and 7-8th places but the fly off pilots are correct....
I was tenth with a shadow...:)
I must set up my launch modes and practice on early launches and late landings...so I can improve my 9.50s :)

Kaan;
Thanks for the first-hand report.
Sorry that you didn't make the fly-offs, but congratulations on a top-10 finish.
Nice to see Jan Kohout back at the top again, he was F3J WC in what, 2000? I was able to see him fly in a F3J Eurotour event in Germany when I lived there, way back in 1999 or so... At that event he gambled and took a short tow (less than 4 seconds back then), but the air was against him, and he was back down at about 7 mins in a 15 minute fly-off round.

Dave

Ok few more comments......
Organizations in istanbul is always very good or perfect we can say.....
According to me only criticised thing is the field which is surrounded by hills..also the surface is perfect for me since its a pleasure to make spot landings to that grassy and soft ground :)
In our country that kind of landing field is very difficult to find may be sesonal..
After 1-2 groups it became a slope competition..... although some of us including me can not manage to fly 10 mins... :o
I m from north cyprus and we had cyprus open few weeks ago... organization could be better but field is %100 flat... and I m proud of our field
:D
anyway..

According to the BARCS site, Jo Grini documented his travels there in his diary entry from 16 - 18 March. I can't confirm because I can't seem to bring up his site at present.
It's also interesting that the event garned attention as the lead article in the Sports section of the Turkish Daily News, 19 March edition: http://www.turkishdailynews.com.tr/article.php?enewsid=68554
There are also some manufacturer-specific comments on the Mibo site: http://www.mibomodeli.si/

"No air to speak about........." and still flying 9.08 minutes, it remains an open question to me how to do that. Have to learn alot on this.

yeh ill be comming in the winter break which will be summer in turkey, i would posibly be bringing along some slope gliders along with me to do some Dynamic soaring. I used to live in Samsun and there is alot of good slopes over there. I will be going around turkey so i might visit your club down there. What frequency do they use in turkey, cos all my radios are 36MHZ?

Hi Abdullah,
legal frequency is 35 mhz in Turkey (Some guys are using 72Mhz. ). I think 36 Mhz. is free not using anothers. It doesn't matter.
