Can someone help a newbie at today's flight Simulators for fixed wing aircraft and models? I have flow R/C fixed wing plances on and off for 20 years, now getting back into it after maybe 4 or 5 years, and I have a chief flight instructor helping me at the club field with my powered glider and my .40 Fledgling power plane, and man am I rusty... my son and daughter are flying FSM with my JR radio pre-teens, and they want to fly bad and I want to learn on the best flight sim on the market for planes.

Man I am confused, it seems from the forums and reviews(I could find) and websites, that AeroFly is the best and FS One 2nd and Phoenix 3rd and G3(not G3.5 lost physics qualities), then Reflex XTR, then X-Plane and then all the under $50 USD flight sims... I called a few mfg'ers and AeroFly claims thiers is the best physics globally...? Help a newbie quick, I don't have cash to buy but one, not all of these... :(
Some of the reviews are wimps and afraid to post comparisons, just lame reviews for one product at a time, what is up with that???

Thanks for any solid help and real reviews you can supply...
:)

i personally think theres not much in it between phoenix and afpd. I personally find AFPD a little too stable in the hover and when transitioning through the stall.

but hey... i helped with the physics of phoenix i would say that.

I have flown with both Phoenix and AFPD, and agree afpd feels more stable than phoenix, i find that afpd seems to snap into a hover much to easy, maybe i'm wrong not had much rl experience here.
currently many more models in afpd, but phoenix is still young compared to afpd and when they release the model kit that will all change model wise.

overall i prefer the feel of phoenix

I have G2, hate G3 since it lands the planes for you. I also have the Ikarus one and it is nice but at times too easy also.

For my money I love FS1. I think it flies very realistically. The glider tow is super (I have a 4 meter glider) and the 3D stuff is very realistic also.

The landings require the same skills as landing a real RC plane, definitely harder than Ikarus. I like the landings in G2 with the difficulty set all the way up, but G2 is history.

If I could choose one of all that I have and have tried I'd go with FS1. It is slow loading and when you change something you have to wait again etc. but when you get to fly it, it feels very realistic. My favorite.

I've been flying RC for forty years or so with a few gaps here and there. I also have about seventy hours in sailplanes and maybe forty in power. If I had everything I wanted I'd live at the airport and fly all day long. Since I am not in that category I have to satisfy myself with sims. (I live inconveniently far from my RC field) FS1 is my favorite.
