Today I attended the Australian International Airshow. I have attached puctures of various UAV related exhibits.

If anyone also attended please feel free to post pictures here.

Something of a disappointment was that there was a stand with information about the UAV Outback Rescue Challenege, but no one was present to answer questions.

If anyone is going to go tomorrow (Sunday) The University of Sydney exhibit has a nice UAV, and the guys are very informative and friendly.

Other interesting stands include the Advanced VTOL Technologies and MicroAir Avionics.

I was at the trade show on Wednesday. Didn't see any mention of the Outback competition. There is certainly a lot of interest in UAV's at the moment, every second stand seems to have their own one. I am a little concerned about the industry at the moment, I dont like the chances of that VTOL one I saw, it was electric powered if I remembered correctly. There was a ScanEagle model at the Boeing stand then Insitu had another stand at the airshow, What was going on there.
Nice pictures anyway

I'd have to agree with you, there was abundant representation of companies and organisations promoting their UAV related hardware. I think however I'm a little more optimistic about the industry prospects. I was pleasantly surprised to see that a healthy proportion of those UAV related stands - including the VTOL one you mention (see attachment) - were based in Australia. This tells me that there is a lot of interest in this area, and a lot of tenanted people with the right skills - doing research and development. If the government, educational institutions, and some of the larger well known aerospace companies continue to foster this environment of development, and expand their orientation towards developing operational platforms, I'd say the future will be very bright for this industry in Australia.

Attached is a scan of the hand-out for the VTOL you mention. Unfortunately, the website is under construction. I'll Scan the Outback Challenge hand-out tonight and post it.

I was very very disapointed with the Boeing / HdH stands. EADS / Airbus and BAE Systems had very good stands with lots of inforation/ handouts, and people available to answer questions. Also the University of Sydney had a very good UAV related stand.
