Not sure really, I know that radio shack has a shelf dedicated to the systems.
I kind of assumed it was a USB program and play, autonomous system.

Okay, so the parts can be plugged into a reciever...
Can I make an operational deck crane using the programable chip set and only one or two channels from my transmitter? That would be something.

It looks like it has programmable function modules. This takes things beyond a 'servo'. Could be excellent for multiple servo control macro (imagine your 'crane' picking up a box off the dock and dropping it into the cargo bay when you trigger one event). However, that level of robotics, while common in the robotics field could have limited practical use on boats. Maybe a super rescue boat could have some utility from such automation. The limit switches and kits, if you can interface them with standard RC gear could have interesting uses.
Difficult to tell specifics from that site.
