Weak Signals R/C show in Toledo, April 13-15: http://toledoshow.com/

Last year saw Jack Kipfer take Best of Show for his mahogany speedboat "Rainbow IV". Plenty of other fine models on display, and lots of R/C boating suppliers. Oh, and a few airplane thingies too, in case anyone is interested.

Just type in "weak signals" into your browser, and the show's website will come up, a list of exhibitors and all. :) :) :)

Pat, you know I'll be there, as will most of the familiar faces you've come to know. One that won't will be the Midwest display, don't know what's going on there---.

Saw Jack Kipfer last week at our club's awards banquet, and he's been working on yet another mahogany wonder, more modern this time. Not sure if it'll be ready for the show though. ;)

You might consider entering a few of your own boats this year---. :D

Kap-
Would be a shame if Jack didn't make it- he says it's always a mad rush, finishing up details even on the drive down! But he's been there with a winner every year since like forever.

I just might show up with something... was there last year:

Pat, I think Jack's taken it for 15 consecutive years.

Many of the Indianapolis Admirals will be there, myself included.

If any of you guys make it there, how will we recognize each other? As nearly all of us have aliases on this forum, it could pose a real problem.

Any constructive ideas? ;)

Post our pictures on the back of milk cartons? I know where I am, so I can't be missing.

Check the walls of the U.S. Post Office? I've never been convicted of any felonies I may have committed.

Okay, here a couple of pictures of me from a trip to Baltimore last October.

I will be down with Don waving to Der Kapitan. Pat, Wish you were brining the schooner, really enjoyed the build in SIS. If I was a wealthy person might want to build that one. Really classic. Looking forward in seeing CG Bob and his wife they really help make the show go by. Want to pick his brain on subs and the S-100. Looking forward in seeing Rich from Mack and Jack with his usual "special boat"

For those of you who are thinking about a Trek for Toledo at least come for Saturaday afternoon or Early Sunday Morning. All the contest display models are out. Last year I was shooring film and got some nice shoots. Seeing Pats pt41 in person was worth the trip (if your a fast warship person)but I could have shoot him for putting it in a dark corner. In 1/20 it looked like the real thing. Trying to shoot Jack's runabout was diffcult because the finish and the lighting really played havoc. Since it was almost a mirror you couldn't get the admiring people or yourself out of the picture. Another looks like the real thing.

Do look at all the models - I think it was last year that a guy brought in a piper cub that was big enough to take a 2 year old for a ride in, Looking into the cabin everthing was there. (My father was in CAP when I was seven I my first airplane ride was in a Cub my second was an Aircoupe)
That model brought back some memories.

Well see you at Toledo

I just got a phone call from Lee Upshaw, and he is cancelling his booth at Toledo this year, citing transportation and personnel problems. :(

He was well-represented there last year, after an absence of several, but hopes to make a comback in 2008. ;)

I plan to be there. I would like to take a boat but do not want to spend the weekend or have to drive there twice. Oh well...

Marty, though it would be great if you brought a boat and joined in the fray,
it's good that you're just coming, period, and will get a chance to meet some of the guys in the forum. ;)

You'll actually be able to match a name with a face.

I can understand your not wanting to do several long drives, though, I'm not exactly fond of long hours behind the wheel either---. :(

I would like to bring a boat but what would I do with it? Err I am confused. It would be nice to meet up with everyone at a certain time maybe? Or at a restaurant nearby to chit chat. I know CG Bob personally and see him here and there. I might just walk right by one of you and have that "He is just one of those airplane guys" look. :D I have probably walked past a bunch of you guys and just had no idea who you were.

I am up for whatever.

Keith, I have met Jerry, though it was a few years ago, and have met quite a few of the other SSMA guys. :)

Marty, while at Toledo, I can be found loitering around the Microglass booth, when I'm not at the beer counter---. :D

I will be loitering around the Loyalhanna Dockyard booth which is right next to the Microglass booth, and one row over is Mack Products - so if you get tired talking to der kapitan you can pop over and talk to me, Don or CGBob.

We don't bit, much
