I just came across this ad in this months EAA Sport Aviation. Maybe this could be used as an artifical horizon indicator? I remember a thread a while back saying artificial horizon was very difficult to do...

Looks like an interesting package. It seems the difficulty may have been overcome, but now there's the price.. $300 for a dev kit, and $250 for a compass.
I like, but its a little steep for me!

I don't think it will work in a plane.
It uses a 2 axis accelerometer to judge tilt due to gravity and won't take kindly to being tossed about. The application notes say it is for leveling platforms, antennas and robotics.
On a positive note it is available with an optional depth gauge!

The way I've flown some days, that depth gauge might actually have been used !
